RexGig0 Posted January 9, 2020 Share #21 Posted January 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) 2020 will not be one of my most-prosperous years, so it is not a matter of resisting temptation. At best, I might add a lens, this year.
Advertisement Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Hi RexGig0, Take a look here M10M - who will be joining the stampede?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 9, 2020 Author Share #22 Posted January 9, 2020 I would like it, it is probably a wonderful camera, but I have absolutely no need of it. I'll sit on the sidelines and watch.
LeicaR10 Posted January 9, 2020 Share #23 Posted January 9, 2020 Jaapv, It is going to be a most excellent camera. The world will see next Friday, (USA time). Might be too tempting for the most hardened Leica users who resist...LOL. r/ Mark
Jeff S Posted January 9, 2020 Share #24 Posted January 9, 2020 It will be just as great down the road at half the price. Jeff
Peter Kilmister Posted January 9, 2020 Share #25 Posted January 9, 2020 With my M10-P I get very good B&W by developing. I also have a quiet shutter. What would I get with an M10M except the use of B&W filters to strengthen parts of the grey spectrum? Maybe I am naive? Before you knock me down for this I wish to remind you that I do have an LFI.Gallery Master Shot accreditation for a B&W photo (taken with an M240-P). Have you?
John Miranda Posted January 9, 2020 Share #26 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) It seems like it can come back to the tired debate on how many MP's one requires, assuming the M10M comes in at higher MP? Beyond MP, it seems like sensor quality just keeps steadily improving in areas of dynamic range, and high ISO performance. This may be a draw for some. In 2019, I rediscovered film with a Leica MP, and almost exclusively load B&W film on it (my 'monochrom') and now carry it alongside the M10. I also rediscovered the b&w wet lab, and am really enjoying the experience of seeing the prints appear in the developer tray. I will say when an "M11" shows up with 40+ color MPs, I will get it, as an owner of a Nikon D850 I can clearly see a large cropping advantage, or ability to make large prints that I'd like to achieve but with the M digital experience. UliWer Posted January 9, 2020 Share #29 Posted January 9, 2020 Not really in buyer‘s mood since b+w is not my preferred way of photography. I am a little bit skeptical about 40+ MP and the small battery the M10 needs to keep its slender form. The battery is already the weak point of the M10. Will it be sufficient to handle the large files?

I don’t think people would have knocked you down for your opinion. Maybe they would for sarcastically knocking others for theirs while simultaneously gloating about an LFI master shot. Weird. 3

The b/w conversions, including tonal transitions, from the S can be marvelous. And that OVF is still gorgeous. I can see S3 depressing the S007 prices, but impressing the S70 prices.:)
setuporg Posted January 10, 2020 Share #34 Posted January 10, 2020 I got the M246 and struggle to have it exercised. Absolutely no need for anything else monochrom and might sell that one. For monochrom, I can load b/w film into the M-P. The current excuse to whip it out is evening/rain when the colors fade away anyway. I'd rather carry an SL2 or X1D in addition to an M10...

Pedantry aside, I think it depends if the S3 is popular and attracts new buyers to the system. Jeff
MarkP Posted January 10, 2020 Share #36 Posted January 10, 2020 I would love one (and compatibility with my M10 would be nice) but I need to draw a line somewhere in the Leica sand. I still have the original Monochrom v1.

LeicaR10 Posted January 10, 2020 Share #38 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) MarkP & Setuporg, I look into my crystal ball and see you both submitting to your lust and wanting both a Leica S3 and M-10-M....you can not resist...just pull out your black AMEX card like I have done...there is no cure for Leica lunacy....I have been to rehab many times...and always relapse...and I predict you will too....Enjoy...Life is short! r/ Mark Edited January 10, 2020 by LeicaR10
Guest Nowhereman Posted January 10, 2020 Share #39 Posted January 10, 2020 Not me. The gamut of tonality, gradation and resolution where I want to be is in these two images, and for that, my M10 is perfectly adequate. Also, I prefer the greater flexibility of digital filters from processing than from glass contrast filters. I had the M-Monochrom and prefer the M10, also for having the choice of using the color version of the image whenever I want. Of course, the full quality of these images cannot be seen in the JPGs, but these can be printed at 150 x 100 cm without difficulty. Fedro Posted January 10, 2020 Share #40 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) I am 99% in. Have sold a couple of bodies and lenses in anticipation. I want to see what the specs look like and how stupidly expensive it is first I can definitely see others' points about the beauty of having both options with the M10 but somehow it does not work for me and I dont love editing out colour once I took the picture with it, I do it sometimes when colours are bad as Paul says, but not methodically It is admittedly a slightly extravagant purchase (though I have loved the MM1 and M246) but if it is what I think it is, it will be a camera that I will keep for few years Now that we have two infants and I am not using my cameras nearly as much as I would love (there are only so many pics of your kids that you can take) I am looking at downsizing a little so more stuff (mostly lenses) will go up for sale this year Edited January 10, 2020 by Fedro
