Is anyone having any issues using the “insert an image from a URL” option in “other media”? I generally use that to insert an image from Flickr and it’s not working for me today.

You better ask on more forum engine oriented sub-forum. But, yes, Flickr link is dead at LUF. You have to dump the actual image at LUF cloud storage to be able to show it here.

That’s a recent change then as I shared an image via Flickr a few days ago. I hope this is a glitch and not a permanent change. I’ll bring it up in the sun you suggest. Thanks for the response.

Flickr links have always worked... I sent a reply to your other post. I just paste in the link obtained from the "share" button from Flickr.

They definitely stopped working in this forum for a while and you had to go through the ‘other media’ route to insert it. Good to know that it works again straight from the reply function though - thanks.

My little town is not quite coastal, it is on a large river, the Columbia, and home to a US Coast Guard station.  Pleasure boaters may dislike the "Coasties" for drug interdiction boardings of their pleasure craft with the Coasties in their dark-soled boots.  But the folks who work on the water love the Coasties because it is they who will save your ass when you are trying to claw your way off the lee shore in a dreadful storm, and they alone.  They are bold, they are brave, they are a "git 'er done" crowd which gets little praise.  That said, here is a photo of a cutter moored at their mooring in Astoria alongside the Maritime Museum.  If you peep closely at the area just below the bridge you will see that the Steadfast has numerous ribbons won and over thirty interdictions for reefer and the same for hard drugs.

M9, '57 Jupiter 8, this one is a honey.

Nice pic and story.  I like that lens too!

I see the painted ribbons for success in the "drug war".

We all need the coastguards around the world...really we all need the first responders, on land, sea, and air... more and more it seems every day.

Thank you.

Here we go, the Iron Lady, again.  Tied up at her home port, Ilwaco, WA.  Previously shown at Bornstein's, the wholesale fish buyer, in Astoria, OR.  It used to be fur, fish and timber, the PNW economic triumvirate.  The fur is gone.  Fishing and lumbering are about the two most dangerous jobs in the country.  Not a lot of second chances in either line of work.  Logging accidents or going down with the fishing boat are heartbreakers here and happen way more than anyone would like.  But when the Dungeness crab season is open it is 48 to 72 hour workdays, big bucks and dangerous conditions.  Salmon, tuna, west coast cod and so on  are usual catch.  It's tough.

Yes, the photo is from the Christmas season.  Those tough bastards who work the fishing boats have a soft spot in their hearts, too.

Love it, la Deusch!  I have one myself.  Not as colorful but just as loveable.
