The problem I have with T Visit is also the reason I like it: the angle finder.

The good thing is I can use my T in hiking in any position without a full tripod. Often I just lay it low on the ground or a big rock that requires a vertical view finder or a flip screen.

The bad thing is the unsecure feeling of the plastic joint of the flipable Viso that worries me if I would break it when it is in the bag. I have to take it off while not shooting.

There is no sign that Leica will install a flipable EVF or screen.

I for one am looking forward to this camera. I love my X cameras (X2 and X-Vario), and would welcome the expected performance updates. Also, to not have to use the clunky (but adequate) VF2 would be a plus. As is the interchangeable lens feature.

The new 18/2 is a great move. Let’s hope Leica also brings out a 35/2 and a 50 or 60 as well. Small and compact a la Fuji. Would be a great set of travel lenses.

I am hoping the price of entry, with the new lens, will be reasonable.

I’ve owned enough Leica cameras now that I fully expect to be disappointed in something on the new CL. That, too, seems to be the Leica way. Hopefully, the pluses outweigh the minuses.

the was a long running argument/thread about this al long while ago ..... a very small percentage of people had issues using the SL in bright conditions .... to the puzzlement of the rest who have never had any problems.

I have used it in bright mediterranean summer conditions and never had the slightest problem. I personally feel this is mostly down the way people use the camera and their individual pupillary sensitivity to indirect bright light.

the SL EVF is far superior to the TL2 with or without visoflex for focussing under any circumstances ....... and is as near as you will get optically to a DSLR VF.

I have used stacked 1.4 and 2x apo extenders with the 280/2.8 R and focussing with the SL is easy and reliable.

Of course all this is only my experience ........ as with all things ..... try before you buy .... if you can.

Agreed - I've never seen this issue. I don't use extenders, but I've used manual M lenses at small stops without a problem.

Let's also hope that it does not take Leica another 3-5 years to do so...

I think you know the answer to this one... The kit is likely to cost the same or more than a Leica Q which gives some food for thought...

Very wise words!

"Leica Rumors" does not have all bases covered. They seem to have missed out on the 'Billy the Kid' camera … the fastest in the west … and it ain't the Clooney :)

dunk

Hope you had a good day in Leica Mayfair today, Dunk. I had about 3 different events keeping me in Dublin today. Did you hear any good rumours in Mayfair?

Indeed Leica Rumors said the photos are actual final products (sadly so).

So it will not seduce me to break my piggy bank.

Benedict.

Didn’t they get that claim from a post on this forum?

The original registration also had the camera using the TL battery, which this camera doesn’t. It would be a monumentally bad idea for them to use yet another battery type. And it goes against what they’ve done with batteries in the last few years.

If those scale pics are to be believed, the plan dimensions are almost the same as those of the M10 and the height comes from the base to the top of the thumb-rest of the M10. So it might weigh almost the same as the M rather than being a light, pocketable camera.

I don't see how they could use the TL battery, since the TL inserts the memory chip from the side (and also has USB and HDMI cable outputs behind the same side door).  This camera appears to have battery and chip entering from below, and no doors on either side for any cables.  Maybe they will use the components for chip and battery from the M10.

How likely is it that Leica will nail this new release and give their customers what they want?  I'm not usually a cynical person, but for a lot of Leicas releases there does seem to be more unhappy people than happy :)

I'd just like to park this comment here......   :p:P  :p

I hope it’s a hoax. It looks awful. Why not just raise the top to incorporate the finder? Leica have done it with the q. The TL/ TL2 looks great, but feels a little slippery in my hands. So a nice sleek look, but at better grip, that would be the way to go imho.

No hoax. People who have seen the camera (but interestingly were not supposed to) have confirmed that it looks like an X with a lump/bump. EVF is supposed to be that of the SL but the rest basically a TL2 in a retro body. Unclear whether the AF will be the same but quite possible it is. So we shouldn’t get our hopes up on the Clooney. It’s the ugly thing in the pictures. This is at a time when Sony is releasing the α9, the α7r III, and announcing a super telephoto 400mm E mount lens. Dunk’s comments above that there is another ‘Billy the Kid’ camera, the fastest in the west, that no one has picked up on and that they will also introduce on the 22nd has given me some hope that they won’t embarrass themselves. Why bother with a big “Das Wesentliche“ event for another version of the TL2? Why show and let people use the Clooney who are not supposed to? Why leak all these photographs? If Dunk is right, we’ve all been barking up the wrong tree.

They shouldn't have named it "Clooney".

"Rourke" would have been a better fit.

You lost me there.  Googling both names took me to a  novel about the Irish potato famine.  The last good Mickey Rourke role that I remember was Boogie in "Diner," but that was long ago.  At the risk of spoiling the joke, could you explain?

You may wish to watch some of Rourke's later roles. Sin City & The Wrestler are the more interesting to me. YMMV.

May i ask where you've read such a supposition? Just curious as i thought the rumored EVF was the Visoflex 020.

I don’t repeat sh!t I read somewhere here. I talk to people who supposedly have used the camera. After telling me it looks like an X with a lump I asked what the EVF was like. The answer “It’s like the one from the SL.” Then we went on to discuss the AF system. Could the person have lied to me? Possibly but unlikely. Could he have mistaken the Visoflex 020 for the SL EVF when he looked through it? Possibly but then he should get another job. We’ll know by Wednesday but I would place my bets on what I was told.
