Bill Livingston Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1981 Posted October 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great last post Winedemonium... If I've counted correctly, this should now be the post that takes the thread to 100 pages... and no new M... Which is of course, fine. Anyway, time to 'celebrate' a hundred pages of contributions.... Yay!
Advertisement Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Hi Bill Livingston, Take a look here NEW M.. This year.. This Fall.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MarkP Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1982 Posted October 31, 2015 At the rate we're going there will be hundreds more pages in this thread before the next M is released.
Paulus Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1983 Posted October 31, 2015 I look forward to the new M. But as a rangefinder camera, there is little to dislike in the M240. A few days ago I met a very talented photographer, and his heavily brassed-up M8. This is not the brassing that comes from careful application of sandpaper, but from - what he told me was - over 370,000 actuations. Mounted to it? A collapsible 3.5/35 Elmar. His work is pretty impressive - Reminded me, as I looked at my fairly clean looking M240, that this hobby is not about buying gear. Nonetheless, I look forward to the new M.... I'm not looking forward to the new M because I have to buy another one ( I think, you never really know ) but because the prices will drop of the M 240. The M 240 as a second body will become more affordeble. As for the brassing: It depends on the way you handle the M how much will appear in a relatively short time and the material. hepcat Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1984 Posted October 31, 2015 I'm still celebrating my "new" M9-P and M4-Ps.
FrozenInTime Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1985 Posted October 31, 2015 Nothing new in the M line to tempt us until photokina: I'm okay with that ; at peace having accepted my M9 and MM for what they are.
MarkP Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1986 Posted October 31, 2015 I'm much more comfortable now that my GAS pressure has been relieved.
keithlaban.co.uk Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1987 Posted October 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is no new M this fall. Posting to this thread is a waste of time. Aw, sh1t...
Mike Rawcs Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1988 Posted October 31, 2015 How about a 'New M - next year - next fall' thread?

Jon Warwick Posted October 31, 2015 Share #1990 Posted October 31, 2015 There is no new M this fall. Posting to this thread is a waste of time. Aw, sh1t... You're right. It is a shame. I like the M's handling. But I road tested an S 007 recently. I'm not an SLR fan (hence the original move in the '90s to an M), but the S 007 and 70mm is way ahead in image quality vs. the M240. Given the S's image quality, it could be the first SLR that won't make me miss an M (or 120 format film for that matter ..... )
jaapv Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1991 Posted November 1, 2015 OTOH, the M240+MM1 combination fits my photography like a glove, I doubt that I am the only one not toeing the line for an upgrade by an M successor.
keithlaban.co.uk Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1992 Posted November 1, 2015 OTOH, the M240+MM1 combination fits my photography like a glove, I doubt that I am the only one not toeing the line for an upgrade by an M successor. All I want is a decent accessory EVF and a processor that allows scrollable magnified live view. Not much to ask in this day and age.
jaapv Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1993 Posted November 1, 2015 I am a regular EVF user, and admitting it is not pretty, it does an adequate job in my hands. The real viewfinder on the M is still the OVF. A better EVF would not be a reason to upgrade for me. If that were the case I would be looking seriously at the SL. Which not. jdlaing Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1994 Posted November 1, 2015 Nice attempt Jaap. You know damn well you're going to buy an SL.
jaapv Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1995 Posted November 1, 2015 Not a chance - not my camera at all.
pico Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1996 Posted November 1, 2015 Not a chance - not my camera at all. After all it is not like deciding between a root canal and an extraction. It just feels that way.
ramarren Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1997 Posted November 1, 2015 My new M this year was the M-P typ 240, which I'm extremely pleased with. That'll be good enough for me for some years to come. I use it wth mostly Summilux 35 v2 and Summarit-M 75 lenses, lately, but also with Nokton 50 and Elmar-M 24 ASPH. I'll have the 'Lux six-bit coded this year. It's already an old friend, comfortable and easy to use. Don't need more than this in an M.
Paulus Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1998 Posted November 1, 2015 After all it is not like deciding between a root canal and an extraction. It just feels that way. I don't think Jaap has many problems deciding between a root canal and an extraction..... to much experience?
jaapv Posted November 2, 2015 Share #1999 Posted November 2, 2015 A root canal is more than a bit more expensive - sounds like the classic Leica dilemma?..
