marknorton Posted December 13, 2015 Share #2081 Posted December 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would certainly like to see an M with an EVF built in; the argument that by having a detachable one, you can upgrade to newer technology is nonsense. That's what the M240 has and there's no upgrade and there will never be one. Now that the SL has shown what an EVF can do, it makes sense to build one into an M camera.
Advertisement Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Hi marknorton, Take a look here NEW M.. This year.. This Fall.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jdlaing Posted December 13, 2015 Share #2082 Posted December 13, 2015 Then it wouldn't be an M camera.
jto555 Posted December 13, 2015 Share #2083 Posted December 13, 2015 Then it wouldn't be an M camera. It would be if the EVF was not compulsory and it still had a rangefinder. A bit like the Hybrid Viewfinder on the X100T but with a rangefinder...
lct Posted December 13, 2015 Share #2084 Posted December 13, 2015 EVFs are evolving constantly. I don't mind if mine becomes obsolete provided it does not bring the camera down with it.
sdk Posted December 13, 2015 Share #2085 Posted December 13, 2015 Well, you could have something like the Nikon SP, with side by side view finders. On the SP, they were for wideangle and normal viewfinders. On an hypothetical M, Leica could have an RF/optical viewfinder right beside (or right above) a high res EVF. Or they could license Fuji's X100 idea of an optical finder that with the flick of a switch becomes an EVF.

Seems to me a bad idea to change a viewfinder which was already very nice since the MP viewfinder...I like seeing the reel thing instead of a very well build t.v. camera. freitz Posted December 14, 2015 Share #2088 Posted December 14, 2015 To me the new M needs to be smaller, lighter, and have better EVF attachment; improved ergonomics like the Q thumb slot would be nice. Improved ISO for sure, and better performance across the current ISO range.
