Leica S Image thread

Recommended Posts

Very nice images tthorne. Can I ask how you took the images, ie, did you use a very wide angle lens and then crop in to keep the verticals vertical? And any multi-stitch, or was it a one click? For some of us considering an S, the lack of a true Leica-made wide angle T/S lens is a sore spot! Many thanks.

Thanks Jon!

The lack of a wide T/S lens is a huge sore spot to me as well, especially since Leica did tease it (sort of) at one point. This was the only real stress in going with the S for me.

For these images, I used the Leica 24mm Super-Elmar-S. This lens is a bit wide for me, but it does not display, to my eye, the stretching that occurs in lenses this wide. Anyhow, I did purchase this lens on purpose with the idea in mind that the extra width would help me when (forgive me please) I needed to correct verticals in post. Anyhow, I did not use any such method today on these images, but I did shoot an exterior in which I had to correct verticals in post. For the interior today I simply played with the height of my massive tripod and had an assistant follow me around with a small ladder. No kidding. These were shot in available light and single exposures.

New Leica 007. First day at work. I'm a commercial, architectural, and Interiors photographer...

Nice shots!

I am a architecture/interior design who do my own portfolio photography. I always wanted to use S for my own work, but the lack of shift lens has really prevented me from doing it.

I am mainly using Canon TS-E 17/24 to do most of my work.

I do hope Leica would release a tilt shift 30mm lens or something.

I tend to wield my S(006) in the pit at gigs - a rare sighting in that environment! Here's one from Friday's gig at The Half Moon in Putney, London. The Half Moon has had live music every night for decades - almost every UK band worth their salt has played there incl the Rolling Stones, John Mayall, The Who, Kate Bush etc.

On Friday it was Simon Townshend, younger brother of Pete. Although he has been touring with the WHO as a lead guitarist for over 10 years, he also writes and sings his own songs. If you're in the USA, you can catch him on one of "One Man and a Guitar" acoustic gigs in between playing with The Who - http://www.simontownshend.com/simon-townshend-on-tour

Here's one from Friday - S(006) 70/2.5S - ISO 800 PP in ColorEfex Pro (I'm a sucker for that vintage chrome look - boy, you had to be bloody good to get shots on chrome film)
