topoxforddoc Posted August 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 27, 2014 Ben, I like it! BTW, is it me or are the images from your D800 slightly cooler in tone than the DMR? It's just that the skin tone is slightly different from your previous DMR pictures. Thanks Charlie
roguewave Posted August 27, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 27, 2014 Ben, I like it! BTW, is it me or are the images from your D800 slightly cooler in tone than the DMR? It's just that the skin tone is slightly different from your previous DMR pictures. Thanks Charlie Charlie, that's very observant of you, but that's what I would expect from you. It has taken me a long time to understand and try my best to get the most out of the D800 files. They are so HUGE and the amount of data in there can really send you in circles. The DMR was & is such an incredible device. With the 80 Summilux, it was always a razer's edge between the warm glow of the color and the fidelity of the scene. I have compared many of my DMR frames from 2006, when I first bought my DMR. The colors are so Romantic and I fell under it's spell. The real advantage of the D800 is that I can shoot in VERY low light & with VERY high iso. The Summilux 80 does do most of the work! Foe me there is no other lens, including the Nocti, that comes even remotely close. All the Best. Ben

robert_parker Posted August 27, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 27, 2014 For me, this is all about colour and composition, with the red flower in the hair providing a firework-like effect - you can guess I'm not over keen on the plane of focus, personally I'd want the near eye to be sharper but for me it's a super picture nevertheless
