Wow, like the Beatles once put it, it´s getting better all the time!

Olch, these are wonderful. The light and atmosphere in the second one is absolutely lovely.

And "All you Need is Love" they also stated. Which is true about the D2.

Those shots are remarkable, Olch

John, I certainly didn't take offence at any remarks. Returning to my original posting, it merely reflected the emotional impact the reference picture had on me at the time I first viewed it. Today I might feel differently about it. That is why I use the word 'intangible' because it is often difficult to define one's feelings in purely concrete terms.

My original comment referred to the appearance to me of a regal crown viewed from above. Hence my use of the word 'majestic' used purely as a metaphor. Others may not see it that way. In my view there is no right and wrong way in subjective criticism. I hope that helps clarify my comments for you.

Thanks!

Olch - those last two samples of the little girl blowing bubbles are phenomenal. Amazing capture of light and shadows.

Did you use anything to diffuse the light? I'm really impressed. Makes me want to take the LC1 for a spin tonight. It's been a while since I put that thing through its paces...

Lemalk, thank you for your comment. These images are just from camera, no PP, only resized. As for lights, nothing special, I have used a spot metering.

let me also say, that I find your two DIGILUX 2- photos absolutely marvelous.

If this is indeed your first go with camera, you are bound to become a stellar- D2- user

in a short time.

I´am looking forward to some more entries here, presenting your work.

Best

I have two D2 cameras; one with the old unchanged sensor and the other with a new sensor. I have never noticed a difference in picture quality, but have never done any real comparison under controlled circumstances. Has anyone noticed any differences?

I had the impression that the images were more crisp after sensor replacement. However, it is difficult to prove or analyse, because the conditions of making pictures cannot reproduced so perfectly - and I was not prepared to sensor damage anyhow.

Well, I haven´t. Got the sensor replaced somewhere around last Xmas, and the images I get now don´t look different in any significant way from the older ones.

Of course, this is a general, "statistical" impression; if I had had any warning that the sensor was going, I could have shot a reference series, but......

Congratulations to you and your wife. I'm sure the baby will be well documented with the Digilux 2. :)

Thanks John! Specifically the reason I purchased the camera. Really enjoying it and several friends are now trying to find one too LOL

Here are a couple of new ones

.... it's like the "famous" leica glow. After having paid premium price you tend to try and find something to justify it, not trying to aggrivate but it's plain and simple human nature.

... and that's your solemn pronouncement after 415 posts of this thread that include copious examples that express the posters' beliefs that Digilux 2 photos have a distinctive look? All the posters are wrong but you're right? You may not be trying to aggravate ...

Pete.

What premium price? This is the cheapest camera I own 533.gif

While part of my "web survival strategy" is never to respond to obvious trolling (such as the first quote above), I want to say that the D2 replaced far more expensive dSLR gear (Canon, Nikon). For 35 mm film, I had used M and R Leicas for years, and I thought the difference I saw was due only to the digital medium. Once I saw the Digilux 2 results, I knew it wasn´t so. And, my recently acquired D-Lux 4 is the same: images "outglow" those from gear several times its price.
