Some slow shutter speed(s) issues ...

Hopefully the camera will be successfully serviced by early 2022 !

i have, i think it is a lllc 1949, with a summerit 50mm f2. i have had it many years, i bought it when there were still  used camera shows, here in NYC. i bought it, as it is the same as my year of birth. i used it when i first got it, and was looking at using it again latelt, but i see the apture ring, is stuck, i don't want to force it, so i will likely, if i can find someone local,  have it looked at. all in all, excepting the stuck  ring, the camera seems i =n somewhat better shape that me....;-)

Welcome, looks like a nice postwar IIIc.  Without the serial number we can only estimate from 1946 to 1953.  Post war chrome plate was occasionally problematic.   The lens is more likely a Summitar rather than a Summarit.  Again, the lens serial would confirm. A stuck aperture ring can often be freed with a little benzine or penetrant.  not much, just a little near the outer edge. Even if the slow speeds are working ok, it probably could use a CLA, clean lubricate and adjust, if you plan to use it. You might check the shutter curtain for pinholes before committing to film.

It also looks like Sharkskin Vulcanite which, as you know far better than me, ties in nicely with it perhaps dating from 1949.

.alen is right the lens is a Summitar, i miss wrote. #722755. i was looking at yotube about regreasing the apature ring, but as it is stuck, not moving at all, i am afraid to try it.maybe the benzine idea is  OK.is that like lighter fluid? i have to look, i might have some benxine in the basement, for some other project.. and  yes, the speeds  seem to my ear to be OK, but that is not very scientific. the dial on top, is a little off, as the speed at the arrow is not it, the right speed seems to be  aligned with the back of the body.  yeast ago, there were many folks locally that i could take it to,  for repair, but  the one  I think it is Japan camera repair, in NYC  is hugely expensive now.  so i haeitate. but will  take it for an estimate. if i remember correctly, i bought it for $110 so  it would be worth getting working properly....the number on the body is #486185. i have many cameras, only one leica, well i have a leica movie camera, but i guess that doesn't count, but have beeen so busy with other stuff, that i have been ignoring the vintage stuff..life...i have a lot of nikon and canon stuff, so it can be to many cameras, and not enough shooting..thanks for the insights, and i will look for the benzine, and if i do atempt it i will post my results.

In respect of the speed dial being 'off', don't forget that the shutter speed only shows correctly after winding and cocking the shutter and the speed only changed after you have done this.

The serial number confirms the date as 1949-50, my IIIc is just before yours (485xxx) and also sharkskin.

...and my own IIIc sharkskin comes just after that of the OP's in terms of ser. no's and dates to early 1950 (AFAIK).

It would be interesting to hear if a tiny amount of fine lubricant did manage to free-up the aperture ring.

This relatively early Leica II (73xxx) arrived today in better than expected condition. The seller's pictures were very poor, so it was a bit of a gamble. Everything works smoothly and the rangefinder has sufficient contrast. The vulcanite is in perfect condition, quite astonishing really. There is just a tiny ding on the top plate between Leica and serial number engravings. But I guess that's fine for a 90-year-old lady. She has all the signs of an early Leica II including a yellow filter in the rangefinder. Also included were a beautiful black paint lens cap, a brown Leica ever-ready leather case and a partly exposed Agfa Gevaert CT 18. The Elmar 3.5/50mm is of the 11 o'clock type and has no serial number. I need to do some research to find out whether this was still common at that time (early 1932, I guess).

Here she is, together with her younger sister, a 1933 Leica III converted into a IIIa syn (photo taken with Leica CL + Macro-Elmar-M 90mm):

Very happy with my purchase, not everyday an early Leica II turns up for sale here in down under.

Anyone has a recommendation how to remove a stuck screw mount lens from the camera body?

You're not wrong about that. Your II looks gorgeous - there's something aesthetically pleasing (at least to me) with the black paint/nickel combo

Here's my recent acquisition (from Melbourne), an early III BP/nickel (probably second batch) with 7 o'clock nickel Elmar

I was half expecting that you were bidding on the II as well. Beautiful III you got there. Yes, the black/nickel combination just really works well.

Previously posted elsewhere, but I've just seen this thread. My first LTM Leicas: IIf (1952-3) and II (1932), both with appropriate Elmars; together with a M4, also acquired in lockdown.

I'm not that keen on the II's as they don't have dioptre adjustment (started with the IIIs) - I don't like wearing my glasses when I shoot so need dioptre adjustment.

The II's did have dioptre modification but the attachments are hard to find, especially the correct glass for me

They're beautiful to look at but wouldn't work well with me in practice.

Interesting. The front ring looks very modern. All my LTM lenses are in "cm". Didn't know it was "mm" prior to that. I thought that mm focal length notation was newer. Live and learn.
