But in general, what difference does it make what Leica invents and sells, as long as it produces the Leica M? If in order to exist and finance the evolution of the Leica M, it is necessary to produce women's tights under the Leica logo, then let them produce them😂

Men's tights only. Or branded lederhosen. Tradition and functionality and all that.

I think it's time to also remind of the obvious: photographs start but they do not end with the camera. The image I posted of the barrel racer in the chute, looked like this sooc. I didn't want to blow out their beautiful white hats, and the light was quite harsh. You often have to put in the legwork after, no matter how you focus it to begin with. The Monochrom of course is pretty brilliant in this way. Even with a future EVF that shows one what it is, is what you get, it pays to understand light and exposure, or one might get burned (with those blown highlights).

I don’t disagree with you, but this is where I think an EVF-M will be very useful imho - specifically to have a histogram in the viewfinder to know more precisely where to take the exposure of the whites to their limit, but without blowing them out. I almost always use the histogram on the rear LCD or Visoflex on my M11(M) for that reason alone, and not had a blown highlight since. In my case, often photographing landscapes (again, quite extreme light across a valley, which might include dark forests in the bottom half of the frame, but bright glaciers / snowy peaks / white clouds in the top half). One can also just use the highlight biased metering on the M11(M), but I feel the histogram gives me more accurate control - which is partly why I think I’d be a candidate for liking an EVF M.

I could see a return of Leica's excellent bright line auxiliary optical viewfinders.

It would answer the matter of seeing beyond the frame. Slide it into the accessory mount and you're good to go.

And, it would offer opportunities for the appreciation of irony...

Quite an interesting thread.  Happily I don't have to make the decision about introducing a M11-V variant.  What I did consider is "How would I position a M11-V?"

II asked an advertising pro I know with lots of product launch experience (and very familiar with Leica M through personal use) to suggest how to market it. I was impressed with her thoughts and seemingly effortless ability to craft a message.  Her comments follow:

If they launch an EVF-M, the key challenge is to sell it as an expansion of choice, not a betrayal of tradition.  Leica’s marketing thrives on storytelling, heritage, and precision, so the messaging must be careful.

How to Position a M11-V:

“The Leica M has always been about simplicity, craftsmanship, and direct connection between photographer and subject. The new Leica M11-V builds on this tradition with modern clarity — bringing the legendary M experience into new hands, without compromise.”

  • Emphasize continuity: same M body, same lenses, same philosophy — but with a new way to see.

  • Calling it a M11-V shows it a variant, not a new generation - minimize purist concerns.

Clever Marketing:

  • “The M, in a new light.”

  • “The soul of the M. The clarity of an EVF.”

  • “For those who see differently.”

  • “The range expands — the spirit remains.”

Target Audience:

  1. The Legacy User (aging eyesight):

    • Message: “Still love your M lenses? Focus with precision, even at f/1.4, even at night.”

    • Benefit: Accessibility without compromise.

  2. The Modern Enthusiast:

    • Message: “Live view, focus peaking, and instant preview — the M spirit with digital clarity.”

    • Benefit: Makes the M approachable for new generations.

  3. The Professional Photographer:

    • Message: “Shoot wide, shoot long, shoot wide-open — with confidence.”

    • Benefit: Expands M-mount usability into genres where the RF was limited.

  4. Pricing: Slightly below the RangeFinder M:

    • Positioning: “The most accessible M yet — without compromise on craftsmanship.”

I would rather market it as a Q3-M… makes more sense to me…: get the Q experience with lots of wonderful interchangeable M lenses…

I use my left eye to see beyond the frame

Sorry, but "lederhosen" (brandes or not) are a widespread misconception or prejudice. In Germany, such items of clothing are only worn in Bavaria. Especially not in Wetzlar in Hesse. There are other “more traditional” things to wear... But is that suitable???? :) :) :)

I know that. My wife is from Dusseldorf and Dusseldorfer's wouldn't be caught dead in a pair (except maybe at Oktoberfest for a laugh). Our kids grew up getting dragged to their German school Oktoberfest in lederhosen each year - and so did I.

And in fact, my 13 year old daughter's name is Leica. So we're good on the branding. 😉😄

.. greetings to your wife. Lucky for me that I'm not from Köln :)

And I like your "branding" - but what a pitty: your daughter it too young for my boys :) . Perhaps she find somebody named Elmar, Oskar or Ernst

We would have to have an alt bier versus kolsch bier showdown (shhh, I prefer kolsch, but will never admit it). We actually make day trips to Koln - it's a lovely city, as is Dusseldorf.

My family is from the Cologne area, so it is Kölsch for me! My favorite is to go to Früh on the Domplatz, even though it is very touristy. Used to love going to Photokina and visiting family.

That reminds me, any rumors on a Q3M yet?

According to Digital Camera World, production of the Q2 Monochrom has ended, so maybe we’ll see a Q3 Monochrom at some point. Will be interesting to see which lens Leica goes with - 28 or 43mm. One things for sure, it will have an evf 😊.

We are veering off topic, but I thought it had previously been established that a monochrom won’t work with the Q3 autofocus.  I’m sure there is a thread on this in the Q section.

That has not been established. It is possible that OSPDAF can be implemented without a CFA.
