  1. On the other hand: you now have an excellent camera (SL) in your hands. Is IBIS important to you? Maybe it makes sense to look at your library to estimate how many times it was needed? Do you often shoot at night with long exposures?
  2. I wouldn't consider the SL2 because of the ugly noise. The SL2-S is best suited for your purposes, but if you crop frequently, then the SL3
  3. This is a great idea! Maybe you, as the author of the idea, should make a new thread? There we will collect serial numbers of problematic and problem-free devices. It is possible that we will be able to identify a pattern, and future Leica buyers will be careful not to buy a camera from a defective series. If Leica does not meet us halfway and remains silent, then it’s time to take matters into our own hands
  4. The M11 wins by 2/3 stops DR and does not suppress noise at high ISOs. For me it's completely different behavior
  5. It's surprising that the M11 and SL3 behave as if they have different sensors

    One more bug…

I assume that recording on 2 media at once will further increase the load on the unfortunate processor, which is already unable to cope and causes freezes. More load - more freezes
  7. The main conclusion from the images presented in the article is that bit depth matters even for high ISOs. This is clearly seen from the example
  8. They raise exposure by 6.5 stops, which is equivalent to shooting at at least 10,000ISO. At the same time, a 14-bit file looks much better than 12.
  9. Just look at the green cast in one of the photos in the article I linked.
  10. I don't have the SL3, but have owned the SL2 and Q2 for a short time in the past. I found the noise of these cameras to be unpleasant and too digital compared to the SL and M10. I'm not talking about the amount of noise. Then I bought an M11 and was more than satisfied with the noise. I also have X2D. Based on the fact that the sensors in the SL3, M11 and X2D are made using the same technology (in the latter case only the sizes differ), I conclude that the noise pattern will be the same. I like this noise better than the SL2
  11. Those people who are interested in the difference between 12 bits and 14 bits can read an easy-to-understand article here https://petapixel.com/2018/09/19/8-12-14-vs-16-bit-depth-what-do-you-really-need/
  12. Leica is a commercial enterprise. Who will buy SL3 if the difference with SL2 is minimal?
  13. Additional bits are primarily responsible for a smooth gradient, for restoring highlight and casts in the shadows. This is important for the sky and face. Sony claims that losses during lossy compression are also minimal. Therefore, if you are comparing cameras in terms of FPS, then it is more correct to compare them at the same bit rate.
  14. It is better not to use the 12-bit mode, if the file has to be seriously processed, artifacts will arise. In 12-bit mode Sony will give you 10 fps
  15. Actually 4fps with AF between frames, Sony A7RV - 7fps. We can conclude that Sony's hardware and software is approximately 2 times more powerful
