  1. May I ask, where did you get the idea that the M11 has more DR than the Sony A7r5? I have both cameras and DR is absolutely the same, as is IQ, the only difference is in color rendition, but this is a matter of taste. Perhaps you can refer to some published tests?
  2. I assume that now all the efforts of the only programmer😂 in the company are aimed at debugging the firmware of the upcoming Leica SL3. Therefore, fixing problems with M11 is not a top priority
  3. But I regularly use continuous Hi-speed. It is possible that the firmware is poorly optimized for such shooting. However, such problems have not yet arisen with the internal memory, so I stopped using direct recording to SD cards
  4. I have 2 m11 cameras and two exactly the same SD cards. On average, 1 of the 50 files is unreadable
  5. Apparently, Leica is not ready for large financial losses by launching a recall campaign, especially when it comes to such an icon as the M series camera. Regular freezes and loss of few damaged frames should have led to a hotfix, but since this did not happen, the problem most likely is in the hardware. Realizing that few users would want to lose their camera for a few months (the usual service time for Leica), the company chose a strategy of slow, useless updates with the goal of allowing any warranty periods to expire and for users to live in hope. We have actually been waiting for reliable firmware for 2 years and as a result we will only get it together with m12, and until then we should not use the SD slot as the main one (thank God this slot at least works in copy mode from the built-in memory). We can say all we want that Leica is a small company, but 2 years is an absurdly long time even for a small company.
  6. If you have more than one camera, then I'm curious to know how often and in what situations do you use them? Outside the home I use the M11 60 percent of the time, the X2D 30 percent, and the Sony A7R5 10 percent. In general, for a city walk, I always choose 2 M11 cameras with 35 and 50 due to the compact size, zone focus and rangefinder; if a beautiful color is especially important to me, then I take X2D with 38 or 55; to shoot dynamic scenes with my children (usually during various school events), I take a Sony 24-70 because of the zoom and quick focus on people. In 80 percent of cases I shoot ordinary events inside the house on a Sony 24-70, 10 percent each are occupied by M11 and X2D. When traveling I exclusively take M11 with 35 and 50. There is also a separate case of walking in the rain, when I can take interesting shots, but I have an umbrella in one hand. In this case, I take a Sony with 40/2.5 so that the camera can be easily maintained with one hand How do you use your cameras?
  7. Acceptable noise levels for me are around ISO 6400, but I tend to underexpose my photos a bit to avoid blown out highlights. That is why I set 3200 ISO in the auto-ISO settings, understanding that during processing I will adjust the shadows and midtones upward, thereby bringing the result just to 6400 ISO, which is acceptable for me in terms of noise
  8. What's stopping you from simply raising the upper ISO limit above 6400 in the auto-ISO setting if you're prepared for the extra noise level? the result will be exactly the same as with subsequent correction of an underexposed photograph in a photo editor
  9. because this way I won't know when the internal memory is full
  10. For me, in order not to lose frames, at the moment the only reliable way is to shoot on the internal memory. After the internal memory is full, I copy its contents to the SD card using the appropriate menu item. Then I format the internal memory and continue shooting. For many years, Leica never learned to work with fast memory cards, so the internal memory is both more reliable and faster. Of course, like everyone else, I’m waiting for firmware fixes, but we all know that our favorite manufacturer is not very efficient in such matters
  11. and in my opinion this is the best implementation, since an underexposed frame on 6400 cannot be corrected in the future without a huge amount of noise. It’s better to let the movement in the frame be a little blurry. If you want to avoid this, just set 1/250 on top of the camera, it's very fast
  12. I once had a similar situation with X2D. Since then I haven't put any camera in my bag in standby mode
  13. Leica has become an icon for many, so even reasonable criticism of the product is perceived painfully. It has become a habit for me to first take a quick picture with an iPhone in front of the M11, which I will use later as a reference white balance for shooting in current light conditions.
  14. There's not much we can do to affect the situation. I am sure that Leica is aware of the problem with white balance, many people have been writing about it for a long time, but nothing changes. I noticed that this happens most often in cloudy weather or when shooting in the shade. That's why I take small Ricoh with me to measure the white balance before shooting. But if I plan to go to shoot and I know for sure that there will be no sun on this day, I just don't take the Leica M11 with me anymore, I switch to X2D in this weather
