Advertisement Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Hi Al Brown, Take a look here The coolest way to remember your emulsion ISO sensitivity film speed on analog Leica M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Steve Ricoh Posted March 8, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 8, 2023 I simply cut the end of the film carton to size, simple and cost effective.
Mikep996 Posted March 8, 2023 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2023 "...keeps the owner from forgetting what film is loaded." Maybe I'm missing something obvious but doesn't the ISO dial on the back of the camera serve that function? 10

Personally I like that Leica provides a dial on the back that you can turn to your film speed. As long as you remember to.. As I use a lot of cameras I find this site extremely helpful: www.filmtrackr.com Edited March 8, 2023 by Huss

hdmesa Posted March 8, 2023 Share #6 Posted March 8, 2023 I like this for looking down into the camera bag and seeing at a glance what camera is loaded with what ISO film. If you also shoot color, it might be nice to have a second set with a "C" marked in red above the ISO to denote color film.
250swb Posted March 8, 2023 Share #7 Posted March 8, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don’t think the hotshot really needs any protection but they aren’t very helpful if you want to use a flash or accessory viewfinder. I use a strip of masking tape stuck on the baseplate to notate what the film is, when it’s full I invest in another strip.
Topsy Posted March 8, 2023 Share #8 Posted March 8, 2023 I think I've posted this before but here's how I do it and it stops me accidentally opening the bottom by accident especially if the thing in the hot/cold shoe has wandered off somewhere in my camera bag. But I remembered how I wish my M7s did not have it! There is something nice about the look when there is a 'cap' in the empty hot shoe.

david strachan Posted March 10, 2023 Share #14 Posted March 10, 2023 Don't have an M without light metering, and hence back film reminder dial, but reckon I'd still cut a bit of box and sellotape to baseplate, just as i do with my Barnack IIIf. Even my other manual cameras..Nikons, LF, etc Whatever you like really...all good as long as it works for you! ...

But then, what if we forget to set that as well? 😁
