Sorry if this question has been asked before. Is the filter thread now directly on the lens itself or with the new circular hood?

You can now do both - the lens itself and also the circular hood.(  For the OLLUX-replica hood there is no filter thread in the hood)

Interesting. My 1982 v.2 Canadian black-anodized weighs in at 181g (without caps or hood).

yes, steel rim is made of brass so it's heavier. 213g for the remake & 230g for the original. Great weight for a lux. Compare that with the asph lux & that lens is a beast. 3x larger & almost twice as heavy.

FWIW (no caps / hoods):

Black (Aluminium) Germany v2: 184g

Titanium (Brass) Germany v2: 223g

These really are jewels I'm looking forward to seeing the new chrome one in real life.

...and, of course, steel. ;)  I get it.

Just a tiny bit of steel hehe : p

But yeah the v2 (- infinity lock version & titanium) are all much lighter. Wonder why the steel rim remake weights 15g less than the original though, while being larger. Maybe because of the way the infinity lock is not a separate piece anymore?

No comment! I couldn't possibly play favourites (but I think we know which might be) 😂

The titanium reminds me of a dealer who told me to buy this lens, he rarely advised or recommended I make a purchase.  I didn't and now wish I had.  Oh the missed opportunities!

Perhaps I'll start a thread about Leica I could have but didn't buy.

I'm thinking of converting an old lux 35mm to 6bit, can anyone with the new steel rim post how the exif metadata will look like? Thanks! :D

First we need a software update, currently the new Steel Rim cannot be detected.

I was one of the field testers for the 35mm Summilux f1.4 and also have the original one (without Goggles). The rendering is very very close although I prefer the glow a bit more of the old one.

Leica M10-R with reissue Steel Rim 35mm f1.4. Btw sizes are different and shade of the new one won't fit the old one (as with the 50mm f1.2 reissue).
