I know you didn’t get that either. 🙄 I know what you need - you need the M11. Just give in and get it.

I'd prefer an adible signal; a camera that swears loudly at you maybe (WTF!). Not only would you know that you had used a lesser lens, but so would everyone around you adding embarassment in to the equation too.(😆). trickness Posted June 12, 2022 Share #46 Posted June 12, 2022 I think the M11 is going to be the last digital M without IBIS.
Viv Posted June 12, 2022 Share #47 Posted June 12, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't like or use the electronic shutter. I suppose this means that I will have to keep my M11, Q2 and (whisper it), CL.

I agree. An ugly and unnecessary word for "tactile or audible response". But then, what do I know? I'm just a simple photographer.

They’re selling them to a whole group that would never buy a rangefinder. You have a varied product line. That’s how you stay relevant, not by killing the Leica M. Just leave it alone. Leica also has a varied M product line: film M; screen-less M; monochromatic M; M with varying MP (M10 and M10-R sold simultaneously), etc. The SL2/SL2-S shows similar diversity. Adding new technology/features, and appealing to a more traditional M customer base, are not necessarily mutually exclusive, provided Leica concludes that there is sufficient customer base and profitability in each. If, for instance, there is eventually an M with built in EVF, that doesn’t preclude simultaneous production of traditional RF based model(s). Same with many other potential features, none of which are cast in stone. Video was deleted in the M10 after introduction in the M240. Nuance cuts multiple ways. By "rolling" I do not mean the same thing. If you use an electronic shutter on fast-moving subjects, you may get a very specific type of distortion in the image. This is the rolling shutter effect.

Rolling shutter is not an issue with the latest electronic shutters (stacked sensors) as the readout is almost the same speed as the mechanical shutter (1/250 vs 1/300 sec?). They tell the time, with reasonable but imperfect accuracy. A 25 euro Casio would be more accurate, but would the, um, haptics be as good? I suppose that's why we buy Leica cameras.

With the 2.0 firmware, when the camera detects you have mounted a Leica lens that has been replaced in the catalogue by a more recent ASPH or APO design, the word 'CHEAPSKATE' will be displayed in the viewfinder in flashing red characters for 90 seconds.
