If a CL2 was anywhere near to being a reality, existing CL camera stocks would likely be discounted in order to shift them ... prior to an  official CL2 announcement ... In the same way that the SL601 was discounted prior to the SL2 being available.

Good luck trying to keep the current CL alive until 2025.

Why should my camera die?  Although I admit that it has been degraded to "easy to carry and casual use" system.

I think what is meant is that it will be very difficult to sell CL to NEW customers.  I also have TL2 and 3 very good zoom.  (+ M Leica) But I do not want to expand and buy new - unless I know for sure that Leica is developing the APSC system.  But of course I will both use and enjoy the equipment I have.  But if NEW customers do not come, the system will die out.  So it's absolutely crucial for Leica - if they want to keep APSC alive - to tell what they are doing .. otherwise this will be the end for APSC.

I do not need a new body for L-mount APS-C but new L-mount APS-C lenses. Sigma seems to be still active. The current CL, IMO, is still an excellent option compared to the latest APS-C offering (e.g., Fuji and Nikon).

Sorry, my bad, as Kim pointed above, I should have written "Good luck trying to keep the current CL LINE alive until 2025."

You mean the APS specific lenses vs FF L-mount?  I think there remains an attractive advantage to using the small/compact lenses on the CL when you don't need/want to carry the larger stuff.

It is quite possible that Leica has already completed much of the design and testing for a CL2 but had to hit the “pause” button due to the pandemic and subsequent supply chain shortages. Also, as for myself as a fairly low volume shooter, my CL should last until 2025. The bigger question is whether I will last that long. 😶

It doesn't matter, because even if they hit the pause button today, in 3 years they'd be selling a camera that is already 3-4y obsolete.

And if you want to update it to current tech, when you change one or more components like sensor, processor, AF engine, image engine and whatever else we can expect to change, you basically have to redo almost everything.

Why would you punish yourself with APS-C lenses when you can get Sigma lenses that are as small as the CL lenses but cover full frame?

Numerous reasons.  The 24/3.5 provides a 36mm f/5.25 equivalent - much slower and larger than the 23/2.  The 45/2.8 is compact but odd focal length on APS and low light AF suffers relative to the 35/1.4 and the 30/1.4.  There is no Sigma that offers a 28mm FOV on the CL.  Certainly nothing that compact.  The Sigma APS lenses are more useful on the CL than the FF Sigma's are.

Which ones compare favorably in size and weight to the TL18, TL23, or TL18-56? Sigma's DG DN Contemporary lenses are very nice and compact but heavier than Sigma's corresponding APS-C lenses.
Why do you consider using APS-C lenses on APS-C cameras a punishment?

Why should a Sigma FF lens be better than a Leica APSC lens, if you use it on a CL? There is no natural law, that FF lenses are better on APSC sensors than APSC lenses

There are perhaps less software corrections on larger FF than smaller APS lenses. Just a guess though. All FF AF lenses look too big on the CL to me anyway. YMMV.

Because the TL lenses are pretty darn good on full frame in crop mode and shrink your SL gear.

No, 24x1,5 =36 and 3,5x1,5=5,25

A 3.5 aperture should feel more wide open on an aps-c sensor.. an aps-c f2.8 is multiplied by 1.5x but a ff 2.8 should divided by 1.5x IMO

A key point IMHO! Am new to Leica cameras  since one year only, chose CL. I never saw a reply to the question why FF has this apparent supreme status for DIGITAL cameras. Surely it has to be more than a marketing thing? Pls enlighten, somebody among you clever people
