Agreed - I now have a profile that has the focus point locked as a default with a button programmed for lock on / off.  Works fine for me after a bit of learning.

wait a min!?! how do you do that.

The focus point moves when the camera is resting on my shoulder strap.. the nipple touch keeps moving it.
On Q and M camera it moves too.

can you say you do it? I have be able only to apply a lock to wheels ..

Use single point focus and it will stay centred

I assign this to the top function button (normally reserved for Video)

Works for me!

Having just a half hour ago updated, I'm noticing that sometimes when I enter the menu, there is no Favorites menu, and in fact, the main menu just skips to the Reset Camera item.  Sometimes.

Hmmmm it shouldn't do that. I think I'll wait a few days before I do the FW upgrade....

Hi, I updated to sl2 3.0.  The lens also went through a firmware update but the lens firmware version still reads 2.1 on the 50 f/2 .  The 90-280 would not update with a message stating the firmware is current but it is listed as version 2.0.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is it not supposed to be version 5.0?

I may be missing something and hope its ok to ask here but i often struggle trying to keep the focus point dead center in the frame.   I must be doing something wrong which makes it move and I’m missing shots. Is there a way to “lock it” dead center if desired?

Thank you< JT

@Photoworks if you double tap on the screen, roughly at its center, the focus point will return at the very middle of the frame.

v2.1 for lenses was available (only from SL2s page, lol, but worked on the SL2) about 6 months or so ago... 50 1.4 hasn't been adressed for new linear focus I am afraid, same as 16-35 and perhaps another one...

I updated the sl2 firmware to 3.0.  Lenses then did a firmware update automatically when turning on the camera with the lens (except 90-280).

Lens firmware versions are now 2.1 and not  version 5.0 on the Leica download website. Trying to update to the Vesrion 5.0 from the website give a message " Update file is same version as current firmware"  .. Is the current lens update 2.1 and not 5.0 as listed on the fimware download on Leica website or has  version 5.0 not been released yet (and version 2.1 is actually downloaded from the leica website under Version 5.0 released today 9/22/21?

50 1.4 and  16-35 now offer linear focus !  but if you turn the 50 1.4 focus ring quickly it displays focus "steps" jumping in focus displaying increments probably ? due to the large lens elements that have to be moved . If one turns the focus ring more slowly then the linear focus display is smooth. Thanks Leica!

Thanks Slender, yes the focus point does centre with a double tap as long as you have "Touch AF" enabled.

When "Touch AF" is disabled, there's no quick way to recentre the focus point other than fiddling around with the joystick- sideways, up & down. A simple & painless option would be a press of the joystick button to recentre.

Apparently SL 50 1.4 has been updated via the SL2 v3.0 update. To include linear focus. New version = v2.0 for the SL 50 f1.4
