Wartime 111c with 50mm f2.5 Hektor.

The 111c has an unusual glossy vulcanite, don’t know if it is original or a later replacement?

Here's my '54 IIIf with a 20 years earlier Summar. I love it for it's quirks but not for it's usability - there my M's wins heads down.

These beautiful old Barnacks look like they should be transported to and fro in limousines borrowed from the set of Downton Abbey.

A Barnack makes repeated appearances in the brilliant Dancing on the Edge by Stephen Poliakoff. Being in the hands of the delicious Janet Montgomery makes it even more appealing. :)

Janet Montgomery is a stunningly beautiful woman.  She makes my liver quiver almost as much as my M cameras do! 😍

There was some mention above of the Voigtlander lenses. All of the screw mount lenses work really well with the Barnacks but the two that are available in black paint look particularly good. The 28/3.5 and 50/2.5. Bonus mention for the mini 28/35 viewfinder.

Just made some prints from the 111c and Hektor, Ilford HP5 in Perceptol. Pleased about the screwdrivers picture, minimum focussing distance so it shows the rangefinder is accurate, 60th at f6.3

Copies of darkroom prints.

My iiic. The vulcanite started to peel and it developed a slight light-leak so I used the original full cover to make a half cover for it. I still put a roll through it occasionally as the rangefinder was cleaned during a previous CLA and it is still quite usable. Elmar 5cm.

It's just a Leica I upgraded to Leica II with rangefinder. The body shell with the plate over the hole for the speed-dial for longer shutter-speeds and the engraving DBP (means Deutsches Bundespatent) date this last conversion or repair after 1949. Curiously no flash-synchronisation was ordered although that was very popular at that time. Luckily Leitz had some black-painted spareparts to do the job.

Maybe @willeica @derleicaman or @luigi bertolotti could chip in with some intel? I am mainly interested in what the conversion is, i.e. is this the IIIa (it has the III window frame and diopter corrector at the back, yet no slow speed dial) or something else?

It's a someway odd conversion... the writings (with GMBH and capital letters) are 1950s style... the blanked slow speed dial suggests that the "target" was a IIc, but keeping the original speed dial with Z... I think it is a conversion not performed by Leitz service but by some external lab using spares ; a noticeable detail is the screw - to the right of the speed dial - which apparently was used to secure the new top to the body : I don't remember to have ever seen it in original conversions (but I have seen it somewhere... maybe on a modified 250) ; besides this... the top in itself has another detail : the borders of the part which accomodates the speed dial are straight vertical - unbeveled - I don't remember well (some other can be of help) but this kind of shape looks unfamiliar to me.

Thanks for the findings !  As I said, the screw on the top didn't look at all new to me... but had not evidence (do not pretend to be an expert on conversions 😉) ; Time ago, in this section, a detailed pricelist of all the conversions available in the '50s was published : would be useful to look at it to check if the depicted item can result from one of those options... If I remember right, sync could be provided only for cameras above a certain s/n (but I can be wrong) which could explain the lack of sync in this item.... but I tend to keep my idea that is a 3rd party job (which, of course can be finely made, anyway...  Leica repairers were often very skilled and well equipped concerns)
