Dennis Posted January 30, 2021 Share #95 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) More I see SEM photos, more I love it. It has a very strong but unique character. Does make sense to buy a brand new CV 21/3.5 ASPH ($700), start to shoot and practice with the 21mm, then later in the future, upgrade to a SEM. Or option 2. I don't buy it, and save the $700 for a sooner SEM 🙂 11 hours ago, Keith (M) said: Neolithic Silbury Hill in Wiltshire. 21mm SEM, M10M. Welcome, dear visitor! That building in the background is the Glasgow transport museum, it's very tall, and I wouldn't have been able to fit it in on a 50 from where I took that shot. And sorry, yes, that was shot wide open at 1.4. I'm always reading that the 35 Summilux ASPH FLE has a sterile, boring character to it, but I can't say I've really found that. I think it really comes alive though, when shot on film. I saw somewhere on this forum that someone - can't remember who - likes to shoot modern aspherical Leica lenses on a film M, and vintage lenses on a digital M, and I'm sure they're onto something there.. Dennis, Get the SEM because its character motivates you to master the 21 mm view and discover your specific style. Its ergonomics and rendering join into its magic.
