Kate Rhudy (opened for Mandolin Orange). Very sweet voice and dry sense of humor.

Hi Patrick

The image has light seeping through the top of the image through the paperbarks and at the bottom turns to shadow as black mud. To emphasise that effect in this image I started with the basic tonal adjustments, adding contrasts and brightness to top and darker adjustments below. Once happy with brightness I added some pro glow in between the trees. Pro glow is an action I have but usually for sunsets and so forth. I altered the mix of Soft light/Screen combo in my layers, that is Pro glow soft light orange colour to white and the "Screen" mix also to white and applied by sparingly by brush, this can emphasise the whiter light coming through the trees. Darken up blacks, check contrast in separate areas of lights and darks to taste, check histogram for clipping add any more white if possible. Raw image below or above?

This shot, with any camera, any lens, and sensor size or type, is superb   It is almost inadmissible in any photo discussion or context.  Touché.   Enjoy your new Monochrom.
