On Friday, for the first time in my life, I make a trip to Leitz Park - full of curiosity, of course. In the evening, Peter Karbe will deliver a speech on Lensdesign SL in the Leica-store. Meanwhile being a SL2 owner and for years SL lens user, I am pretty sure that I will also have some curiosity when it comes to questions from the audience. In case anyone of our community may be there - let’s get to know each other! But now my idea: If there are - please only serious factual and not polemical - questions that one or the other would like to ask, but without the opportunity to be there - questions welcome! Of course, I will report. I appreciated learning about Leica's design hurdles, successes, and philosophies from Mr. Puts, and I hope Leica will find a way (perhaps with another ambassador) to continue releasing similar educational/promotional materials in the future. FWIW, I spoke with my local Leica rep, and he said that the reasons why there are shortages at times of certain lenses is simply because Leica doesn't mass produce lenses like companies such as Nikon, Canon or Fuji and that they (Leica) produce certain runs of lenses in batches. -Brad Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
caissa Posted December 11, 2019 Share #18 Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) A classic, ¨cheap¨ non-apo 2/50 standard lens of the size and weight of the Summicron R 2/50. Or a Macro 2.8/60 or similar. Anything non Apo, but small and affordable with AF, but not uni-size. Just one lens, so probably best the 50mm. (Take the existing optical design R 2/50 and source it out) OK. probably not enough of a challenge for Karbe, so not sexy.
