Narsuitus Posted October 4, 2019 Share #22 Posted October 4, 2019 The 35mm focal length is my personal favorite. I own and use five. Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 for my Leica M Nikon 35mm f/2 for my Nikon F Nikon 35mm f/1.4 for my Nikon F Vivitar 35mm f/2.8 M42 for my Pentax Spotmatic Pentax Takumar 35mm f/3.5 M42 for my Pentax Spotmatic (not shown in image)
Musotographer Posted October 4, 2019 Share #23 Posted October 4, 2019 And there was me thinking I’m extravagant to have just two 35s.... (Pre-asph Summilux titanium and Canon ltm f2)
Mute-on Posted October 4, 2019 Share #24 Posted October 4, 2019 If your only M mount lens for your new M10 is a 35mm, and you anticipate cropping, I would think your second lens should be a longer focal length (50, 75, 90) rather than another 35. Jeff S Posted October 4, 2019 Share #25 Posted October 4, 2019 I like to leave the house with one lens, but several changes of clothes for a different look. Jeff

steamboat Posted October 6, 2019 Share #28 Posted October 6, 2019 I only have four. A Summaron 3.5, a Summilux classic and two Summilux Asph - one chrome and one black. No off-brand lenses. 🙂
adan Posted October 8, 2019 Share #29 Posted October 8, 2019 I have had two of the same focal length from time to time. Sometimes, like the OP, to compare and contrast them when I was new to Leica M - I had two "signature" Leica 35s for a while (35 Summilux ASPH v.1 and 35 Summicron v.4) back around 2003. As in that case, I've had other combos where one was large and fast, and one was smaller aperture and smaller size (and sometimes sharper) - e.g. 90 Summicron pre-APO and tiny 90 Tele-Elmarit, or on film, the 21 Elmarit v.1 (60mm diameter) vs. 21 Super-Angulon f/3.4 (48mm filters). Ultimately, I've outgrown all that, because too many gear choices gets in the way of taking good pictures. It's a distraction, and no-one is going to mount my lens collection on their wall - just my photographs. The quality of my seeing is inversely proportional to the number of toys I have to fiddle with....

Danner Posted September 2, 2021 Share #34 Posted September 2, 2021 Agree about the "whatever floats your boat" comment. I like a modern lens and a classically (rendering) option. For me, at 35mm, that's a Summicron and an Nokton Classic SC. Owning 8 M-mount lenses nowadays, I still take a single lens, with no camera bag, when I go out on a day-trip photo adventure.
ktmrider2 Posted September 2, 2021 Share #35 Posted September 2, 2021 I use two 35's: the Zeiss 35f2.8 C Biogon for sharpness, compactness and travel and the 35f1.2 Nokton for speed when needed. I would consider getting rid of both and getting the Zeiss 35f1.4 but not in any rush. I used to have (until last week) three 50's and am now down to one. Don't like leaving gear sitting unused as I consider it a waste of money. 1
