I’m just saying if you haven’t used an iPad for quite a few years then why not give it a bash and see how you get on. I had one of the firist iPads and only used it to watch porn. But this latest beast is IMOO the dogs 😀😀😀😀 I'm happy with my new Surface Book - works as a tablet and as a laptop. And runs full versions of Adobe software. If I really need to send a jpg to someone in a hurry (like if I promised it to someone I photographed that day), PM can squeeze out a quite decent file. I'd rather do something else with my evenings than developing pictures. I normally do my editing at 5 to 6 am as this is norm for me to wake up early. Pointless doing it at night as alcohol and affinity dont mix. Neil
Ouroboros Posted August 15, 2019 Share #23 Posted August 15, 2019 The only editing I do out of the studio is when I'm away running workshops, purely for tuition or to illustrate camera and post processing techniques. I use a (calibrated) 13" MacBook Pro with either CC or Iridient Developer. I personally would not use an iPad or other tablet for editing, it's an exercise in frustration and I'm not desperate for Facebook 'Likes" or have an overwhelming need to keep friends and followers updated in real time.

I don’t post to FB either. Just family friends and my website. I love editing on the calibrated iPad Pro, so refreshing to use rather than a full on computer system neil
thighslapper Posted August 15, 2019 Share #26 Posted August 15, 2019 (edited) I edit the best photos the same day (often in the car on the way back to the hotel ... not me driving mind ....) in LR on the iPad Pro. If I want to upload to the forum etc. I resize with 'Image Size' which is the easiest and least crappy app I have found. The processed images sync with LR on my iMac so they are available when I get home with their processing details. Surprisingly I rarely manage to improve on the iPad versions. Photoshop Fix on the iPad is as good.... if not better.... than PS at cloning out unwanted stuff ..... and much easier and quicker. NZDavid Posted August 16, 2019 Share #28 Posted August 16, 2019 Editing or post-processing? I delete surplus pics as I go along, it saves a lot of time. When I get home I sort them and label them. I also create a selection of email res copies to send people.

Well its a nice picture, but as we're viewing at low res on a web browser nothing is evident about its ultimate technical quality. jaapv Posted August 16, 2019 Share #31 Posted August 16, 2019 Neil is right, for this use any postprocessing suffices. I can understand that he opts for convenience. Even his TV processing will certainly work for editing from the couch with a glass of beer and a bowl of crisps on the side. If you only view on a screen, why not process on the screen you like best? Proper postprocessing only comes into play if you want to print and/or have a wish for the best quality you can get.

Cheese and onion are my favorite with Stellar. Now if only you had added a different word for proper...... maybe different or alternative then your reply would have been perfect. Myself john and rubberman would have been ecstatic neil
jaapv Posted August 16, 2019 Share #33 Posted August 16, 2019 Sorry, Neil, your style is social media only for me. What suits you doesn't suit everyone. I rather dislike beer and hardly ever eat crisps...

plasticman Posted August 16, 2019 Share #36 Posted August 16, 2019 This was one of the main reasons I switched from digital to film: found that I was spending evenings in my hotel room, anxiously reviewing and culling images, instead of being in the moment and enjoying myself with my family. Constant reviewing also deadened the excitement of seeing vacation images afterwards, and the feelings they evoke. Nowadays I love the 2 or 3 week wait before re-living my holiday experiences. PS: that Noctilux pic in the woods - looked very nice on my iPad, but when I was looking at it on the 24" monitor, nothing looked in focus... 😬 2
