I was wondering what happened with this. Glad to hear you got your camera, and amazing for the community to come to the rescue.

You may want to update the thread you started, in case someone comes across it and/or finds themselves in a similar situation. Maybe disclose as much as you can about how you resolved it.

Good idea, I will. :)

I am glad to inform that after 14 weeks of going back and forth with Leica Wetzlar, some shipping issues and a few other bumps, my beautiful M9-P is finally home. The taupé leather looks much nicer in person, but you got the idea. The paperwork came sealed and I am going to let it that way, so using the hexadecimal converter (if I did it right) I found the camera came with 3,000 shutter clicks, and it looks absolutely pristine, not a single ding or dent, flawless up to the plastic at the bottom plate.

I want to give special thanks to jdlaing who help me with the tax issue so I could free the camera from US customs :) (Also andyturk and Charadis offered me help for that). It is ready for China in 5 weeks, can't wait!

Lovely choice of leather - chrome finish is definitely better with the more colourful leathers.

Raid,

the only scarce of the 3 is the refurbished M9 .

If it makes sense is another matter ...

Note that your 16 Hologon will work fine on a M9 (with BW conversions in mind) but might damage the shutter on the other two cameras.

I still have an M8 and an M9.  I am thinking of adding another digital M or an SL ... or?

This is an interesting point that the Hologon may not work with the M10 or SL, but I think that the converted Hologon should work fine with these two cameas, Are you sure that the M10 and the SL will not work with the Hologon?

The "mental battle" is to decide which purchase makes more sense and is also more fun to do:

1. Get online a used M10

2. Get online a used SL

3. Leica refurbished M9 ?

Raid,

If you already have an M8 and an M9 I guess it makes more sense to get the M10 or the SL...

As JMF said, the refurbished M9s are scarce, (I think there are less than 70 left from the 150 cameras Customer Service program refurbished) so you should send Michel a message in case you are interested!

I don't think that I am ready now to get a refurbished M9. I appreciate JMF and your reminder to order one while they are available.

A couple of years ago, I nearly broke the shutter of my SL on my first try with a M modified 16 Hologon, the shutter touched the protruding rear of the lens when focussed at infinity 🙂

The LCD showed a strange picture...  an iris blade was sticking out actually  . Luckily, a gentle push sorted this issue but  I did not ever try again that M modified Hologon lens  on the SL.

It worked fine on the MM ccd .  I have not dared try it on the M10.

I know you have plenty more lenses to enjoy a SL  and they come cheaper than a refurbished M9P .

Hello Jono -

Thanks a bunch for posting this. I just got my M9P this week and am really glad that I was able to order directly from Leica. The camera looks brand new and was packaged just about like it was new. Michel was responsive and helpful with everything.

Regards,

Sanjay

Hello,

Wow what a great thread, I've been searching for an M9P for some time and this sounds great.

I wonder if anyone in the US has ordered one after Oct 13? Were these subject to an import tariff? Not sure if it applies only to "new" cameras or if it is just any.

Cheers

Eugene

Eugene,

Just to let you know that Michel (Leica customer service) told me last week that all M9Ps have been sold, and the available bodies are regular M9 and Monochromes.

Is this a Leica CLA'd refrubished M9P?

This is a good price. I may try to get a Monocrom one day soon, hopefully.

Yes, a-la-carte & 1-year warranty. Those M9s were the demo versions at the Leica stores that Leica refurb. Never been owned before. Mine looks 100% new.
