jonoslack Posted July 11, 2019 Share #23 Posted July 11, 2019 Hmm - I can just about see the point if it works with M lenses . . . . But no EVF (only a loupe on the LCD) would be a real dealbreaker for me.
jankap Posted July 11, 2019 Share #24 Posted July 11, 2019 The loupe is difficult to use with the touchscreen LCD. But it seems, that the camera has rail (like ArcaSwiss). So one can move the loupe aside.

Sigma's site shows a detachable hot shoe as "supplied", and an available VF: https://www.sigma-global.com/en/cameras/fp-series/accessories/ Interestingly, the VF is a loupe for the rear LCD. Seems quirky, but probably usable. Nice, ok, a viewfinder in the hot shoe and the collapsible 35mm Summicron would be cool. Any idea on price? We'll have to see how it works in practice. The camera seems to be very heavy on video features, with HDMI-out, integration to Atomos/Blackmagic recorders, RAW in three different flavours, USB-C recording, etc. On the photo side of things, it reminds me of the original EOS-M. It's barely a mm larger in any dimension. It should be a fun walk-around camera with an M wide (provided those work OK).
tom0511 Posted July 11, 2019 Share #28 Posted July 11, 2019 I am not interested at all. small camera and the use big lenses? And if you want to use M lenses, why not use a M body? If you want to keep it small a camera like the Q makes more sense for me. If you want small and change lenses it should be a sensor size where you can keep lens size small. But thats me and others will have other expectations/needs. Overall its great to have options.
BernardC Posted July 11, 2019 Share #29 Posted July 11, 2019 The Concept movie seems to show it with M lenses attached, so perhaps they've done their homework on that front.
TomB_tx Posted July 11, 2019 Share #30 Posted July 11, 2019 The movie really stresses video. I think that makes more sense for it. No interest for me.

If only Leica would make a 35mm Q. I just couldn’t learn to love the 28mm Q. I want a small 35mm rig.
JohnnyBravo Posted July 11, 2019 Share #32 Posted July 11, 2019 Using wide M lens on this make more sense to me, battery probably won't last though.
nicci78 Posted July 11, 2019 Share #33 Posted July 11, 2019 (edited) @LarryLeica Q2 in 35mm crop (1.25x) mode is awesome. Still get 30MP. Nice out of field view à la M cameras. Give it a try. I really love it. Q2 in 35mm mode acts like a new camera for me. Stealth3kpl Posted July 11, 2019 Share #34 Posted July 11, 2019 I would've bought this if they had an evf which screwed into the side so it was a solid unit (like the flash that would screw on the end of an Olympus XA2). Come on Leica! You can do this. Auto with exp compensation dial on the top and auto iso would be acceptable compromises for a small full frame unit with EVF which takes M lenses. farnz Posted July 11, 2019 Share #36 Posted July 11, 2019 The deal-breaker for me is having a bayer-array sensor instead of a Foveon sensor. What a shame and imho a lost opportunity for Sigma. And no viewfinder is a no-go for me. An interesting concept and good on Sigma for breaking the mould. I doubt that I would have had much use for the 'Tea and Orange' feature or in-camera colour tints but it looks to be a nice small body. With a collapsible Elmar or 35 Summicron it just about works for me but, alas, no viewfinder. Pete.
ynp Posted July 11, 2019 Share #37 Posted July 11, 2019 Looks like it’s supporting DNG, it’s better than the Panasonic way of doing its own proprietary RAW files.

evikne Posted July 11, 2019 Share #39 Posted July 11, 2019 Seems to be usable for anything else than what I am using a camera for.
verwackelt Posted July 11, 2019 Share #40 Posted July 11, 2019 hmmm i think there must be a ergonomic grip/holder where the big L-Mount lenses can be attached and my big paws had place. That small camera is than fastened more like a databack on the lens… Without some better grip it is way too small and at least 36MP would be better… But i assume it is more for the videoguys that put that thing in a rig.
