Almost all the photos we see here are really very beautifully. I think the non super perfect lens but a lens construction with a very long tradition (90 years or more?) like the  C Sonnar50  in combination with the  Leica M touches our photograper hearts. I like it.

You nailed it - although I like the 50 Apo which is close to perfect I grab these old lenses quite often. As I have a 1.5 Sonnar from the Mid-Fifites Contax IIIa and an adapter I made some testhots wide open, first C-Sonnar, second Sonnar

one can see the differences even in these small forum-size. The C-Sonnar has a different lens-design, similar to a variant shown in the original patent.

M9 with ZM C Sonnar. This is one of my favourite lenses for portraits and atmosphere. It's great on the M9, and turns into a short portrait lens on the Ricoh GXR M module.

There's something odd going on with one of the 'bokeh balls' in the final picture ("Signing in") where a bokeh ball has intruded in front of the top of her nose whereas the rest look to be much further back.  Optical illusion?

Pete, that's an interesting one and you have quite the eye to have seen it.

I noticed what looks like some purple fringing around the rim of the nearest ceiling map in the 2nd shot of the empty bar.

Otherwise, the photos look great and this lens is on my watch list

Given that the bokeh balls are generated in the camera, shouldn’t they always be in front of everything else?

No.  If they're generated in the camera then nothing would be in front of, or behind, anything else since they're recorded on the same plane in/on the sensor or film.
