Although I have not checked I rather suspect there is a center weighted metering mode that, using the sensor, is similar to the older off-the-shutter metering. Can someone confirm?

San Francisco moved to 1:1 scheduled appointments on the 13th and 14th.

I’ve got it... a faux film advance lever the turns a small generator and charges a capacitor with enough power for one exposure... 😃

Gordon, Holding it in my hands. It has a fixed 6-bit code on the back that tells the M10 that the R adapter is mounted. You then have to set which lens it is in the menu. It has no contacts to read the ROM in the lens. The current (not the original) Novoflex adapter works exactly the same way. Perhaps you are thinking of an L mount scenario? Michael

Previous poster is correct. No electronics in the Leica adapter and, aside from the tripod foot, no real advantage over the Novoflex. Note that the original version didn’t have the 6-bit coding. Current version does. Careful buying used. I have two R lenses... the 35-70 F4 and the 80 F1.4. I use the 80 with some regularity - it’s a special lens - but the zoom has never gotten much use on the M10. Why? What’s the point of a zoom? Speed and convenience. It’s neither. It’s big and heavy on the M10 and it’s not easy to focus an F4 lens with live view or the Visoflex. Whether that’s the fact that it has pretty deep depth of field even wide open or that the image doesn’t “snap” visually into focus, I can’t say. I’ll still use it (rarely) on my Sony A7 where it’s a more rational lens, but will probably sell it. What are you trying to gain by having a zoom?

Really love this image but the slight tilt in the buildings is really distracting to me. Is it only me?

Focus peaking is not a good tool for critical focusing. It’s a “faster” focus aid than magnification, but magnification is the only way to achieve critical focus with an EVF unless, of course, the EVF has sufficient resolution and optical quality to not need it. But I agree that magnification is a relatively slow technique. I use it for architecture and landscape, usually on a tripod. RF (or autofocus on other camera systems) for moving targets. Frankly I’m surprised how often people complain about the focus imprecision of peaking. It’s not a very good system for precise work. That should be well understood by now...

Opinions on Sony cameras with Leica M lenses
mdemeyer replied to Ravenclau's topic in Leica M Lenses
The Nikon Z6 and Z7 seem most compatible stock. The Kolari mod Sony’s are excellent. The cost of a used A7 plus the mod is a bargain. -
I’ve seen pinholes that cost more! 🙂

The extreme UWA on a Leica M - a smart choice?
mdemeyer replied to Al Brown's topic in Leica M Lenses
I use the Voigtlander 15mm v3 on the M10 mostly in architecture. It’s a very good performing and modestly priced lens. Well worth having in the bag for those admittedly occasional needs. (sample below). Admittedly not a 10mm lens, but I can’t say I have found the need for wider... I also sometimes shift with the 24mm on the Actus, but that’s much more rig to be packing... -
Thought provoking. Nicely done.

Bowen has a built-in radio receiver in the monolights and a wireless transmitter that mounts in the hot shoe of the M10 to signal them to fire. Very convenient and works well. They will also IR trigger from another flash, but I normally use the radios. I have 4 x 500 WS units (I think they are) but adjust the number according to need, often 2 or 3. Power levels are all adjustable and have a range of modifiers. We also have 3 LED video lights for my wife’s work which accept the Bowens mount modifies. She is streaming all her food and wine lectures during Covid19 SIP so they are occupying the kitchen at the moment. 😉

I use Bowen monolights with their wireless trigger, all manual exposure so I only need the flash to fire (no attempt at TTL).

All the time for architecture. Example from my evening Covid19 stroll this week. Shot with a Zeiss Contax 35mm F2.8 shift lens on the M10 with enough rise to keep things square. I also use the M10 as a back on the Cambo Actus with a variety of lenses.

Strange email just now from B&H. I guess I had an availability watch set for the silver M10 and just got an email saying it was discontinued and no longer available. System glitch or something good in the works?

Lovely shot. However, I do find the two bright spots on her shoulder distracting. I’m sure they are part of some sparkly bit of the outfit, but would try spotting them out. Small thing but they keep pulling my eye...

Best to measure your filter, but I use the Kaiser 48mm caps on my 46mm B+W filters.

I like the RRS bracket, which replaces the bottom plate. Some like that, some don’t. 🙂

I only saw the black Summarits being discontinued, but others have reported the silver versions were dropped last fall...
