Is it safe to put a Elmar M 50mm f2.8 collapsable inside the M10.....i.e. can I clasps the Elmar M inside the M10. The guy at the Leica store wasn't sure hence the question

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm going to stick to my noctilux for a wee while just while I get used to shooting this camera then I will try my other lenses

I mount it retracted, it can only do damage if you try to force the lens onto the body at some absurd angle which even with eyes closed would be hard to do.

The objection against mounting it collapsed is not scratching the inside of the body - difficult to do and even  if you managed to do so a dollop of matte black paint or even a sharpie would be an easy fix- the real danger is hitting the roller arm and knocking it out of adjustment, or hitting and damaging the exposure sensor.

Collapsing it when mounted can do no harm, except from  the theoretical possibility of pumping dust onto the sensor

Hay one more question. Does it make any difference if I shoot with the lens extended or colasoec

I'm assuming it will as the PIV will change

If that is a serious question: Rather - if you want to have a sharp image instead of vague blobs. Lock it in place too.

I really don't know......so it has to be locked open???
