CL: After upgrading the firmware to 3.2, Program Mode is the only option available.  Anyone else seen this?

I suspect you have locked the top buttons so preventing them change. I think if you hold down the left button it will release the lock and you can then move through PASM without problems. Someone will likely correct me if I’m wrong. Alternatively read the manual, as it explains how to lock and unlock the buttons.

This is somewhat of a Holy Grail as a number of owners have asked for a solution from Leica that is preventative rather than merely curative. One could imagine that the simplest solution would be to have the focus point locked permanently at the center of the frame, and only if you chose to move it would you then select an option to do so. We wait for the next iteration of the OS or a new CL2...

As a new user this has caught me out time and time again until I figured out what was happening .You rather expect it to be locked unless you decide to move it not drift all over the place if you happen to grip the camera in a certain way .

Is that a setting I need to apply? When I half press the shutter the view remains wide open until the shot is taken.

Should work in manual ("M") mode normally. I have no experience with TL lenses you are using i suspect but it does no harm to try anyway.

Interesting! On the TL2, a half press of the shutter in A mode does preview depth of field. For whatever reason, even in M mode on the CL it does not.

I would save my profiles, do a reset and try again.

Question:

How do I trigger image magnification with manual focus?

Answer:

With TL/SL lenses image magnification is automatically triggered by moving the focus ring. With manual focus lenses, the RH dial by default triggers image magnification.

With an M lens and adaptor, can image magnification be seen through the EVF or just the back screen?

Q:  Is there no way to lock the focus point?  I saw a previous question that you just have to move the D-pad and re-center.  A few of my shots were off because I didn't realize the focus point had moved!

thanks, in advance.

I personally turn off the touch-to-focus on all my cameras for this reason.

The X Vario has an RGB histogram in image review which is nice to use.

My CL seems to default to a plain white histogram in both live view and image review.

Is there any way to switch the CL histogram to RGB?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and have a question about my recently acquired CL. I feel this issue may have been discussed before, but I can't find that discussion.

I have set the AF mode to field, which shows on the screen and viewfinder as a square which can me moved around by the arrows on the directional pad. The problem I have is that every time I handle the camera I touch the arrows which sends the AF square all over the place and before almost every shot I have to centre it (where I tend to prefer it to be).

Is there any way of locking this square in position? The ease with which it can be moved in error is for me a major weakness in an otherwise great camera.

Many thanks.

Hello and welcome.  You would just need to turn off Touch AF .  Page 1 - Focusing, bottom menu item turn off Touch AF.

I cannot get the right wheel to magnify the image to focus.  I still have to press the nav up or down buttons to do this

You need a Leica M to L adapter to trigger focus magnification with the top dials of the camera.

How to modify a Leica CL for use with a Leica R right angle finder:

Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here…

Leica R 14328 Right Angle Finder slides into accessory cold shoe which is 'shimmed' to required height so that finder's entrance pupil lines up with CL's EVF eyecup. Shim and cold shoe secured with double sided adhesive tape. Right angle finder has 90º click stops enabling camera use in both landscape and portrait orientation. Finder has dual 1x and 2x magnification. Finder's focusing caters for -6 to +4 diopters viewing correction and enables live view of the whole EVF image. Shim constructed using laminated art card strips glued together – creating a stepped mini platform which clears the camera's EVF eyecup 'bulge'. Cold shoe sits on the shim's platform. The shim's rear platform extension creates a 'mini diving board' shape – the extension just clearing the rubber eyecup. Shim is 'painted' with permanent black marker pen. Ideally, the shim could be 3D printed. The eBay sourced cold shoe is a little 'cheap and cheerful' and its female slide lacks securing springs – thus finder's male slide is a slightly loose fit in the shoe. Masking tape applied to the male slide enabled a secure friction fit in the female cold shoe.

Right angle finder enables much improved low-level and close-up imaging ergonomics.

Try this modification at your own risk. Please avoid using 'extra strong' double sided tape (difficult to remove) to secure the shim.

BW, dunk
