I have ordered a CL with the zoom package plus an adapter for M lenses. I have a M 240 and a variety of M lenses of various focal lengths from15mm to 135. Now I have to decide what equipment to cull to defray at least some of the cost and in order to placate my wife who strangely enough thinks that I have far too much photographic equipment.

In order to get an impression of what the Leica community thinks:

Will you buy a Leica CL?

Please vote above and comment below!

None of your poll responses reflects my thinking at present:

- I like the CL design and concept.

- I don't care about reviews and other such folderol.

- I'm not yet sure that the CL will prove an advantage to my photography that I can't already achieve with the equipment I have.

So "will I buy a Leica CL" is not answerable at present. "Would I buy a Leica CL?" ... I can answer that affirmatively.

Perhaps you would be more at ease to know your wife's opinion somehow mirrors that of my wife's.

Instead of debating if i have too many equipment due to GAS infection, i just reminded her that she had far too many handbags and shoes beyond her ability to use.

Strange enough she seems to then understand my GAS infection in the correct light.

I too cull those items i deem least used to reduce my new spending.

Have a nice weekens, carry on enjoy your pleasure in life.

Yes ...... The CL has encouraged me to have an eBay fire sale of stuff that I have been keeping 'just in case' .... and where 'just in case of what' appears to have receded into the mists of time.

Luckily I have sufficient camera gear that anything new passes under the radar without comment as it all looks the same to my partner. It's all usually black, shiny and with a red dot on it.

I have however mentally logged the amount of designer clothes and shoes that appear at home with equally worrying regularity ......  as ammunition in case of future domestic strife .....  ;)

I have always just stated that I traded something for this new thingy. She was always ok since she was working and "needed" new purses and shoes. When she retired I feared I would have a difficult time as for a while she had decided she did not need much new clothing, purses or shoes but it did not last long and she now buys what she wants and I am ok with that. It also helps that I am in charge of the banking. It also helped when I told her that "we have too much money in our checking account and she needed to go shopping"....!

I'm sort of hoping for something similar in handling to the SL. A tough mean 1.5x mini SL with faster AF. The CL is nice but work wise it would slow me down when paired with an SL. So I am figuring the "why should I get the CL?"

I've actually gotten comfortable with the SL + 24-90 + ZM 35 f1.4 + VL 12 f5.6 + 11-23 as a compact kit that covers how I like to shoot on the move.

If the CL is identical to the SL in work operation I wouldn't even stop to consider.

As it is I'm looking closely at Sean and Jono's reviews. Good stuff there to think thru. I might get a pair if I can figure out how I can work effectively. I think Leica is on the right track in offering the CL but just a little disappointed.

So I just switched my vote. I've decided to purchase a gently used and in mint condition Leica Q instead. I've been going back and forth for about a week figuring out if I would be satisfied with a fixed lens and I'm confident I can. I went to the Leica store today and even the representative was leaning towards the Q. I didn't get to see many sample photos from the CL, but judging by what I saw so far, the IQ of the Q just stands out so much more to me. I hope I made the right decision!

Come on all you guys with your "I'm not really sure" and "maybe I will and maybe I won't", "yes, but I'll make it as difficult as possible by using it only with manual lenses", or "only if it has [serious highly specific feature or function]". Be honest with yourselves: you know you're gonna get it - it's just too much fun to use. Yes, of course the only real Leica is a rangefinder with the density of uranium and manual everything, or the indestructible pro's SL (photography ain't photography unless it's difficult with heavy equipment). But the CL with its AF lenses is light, quick and FUN.

Get your order in now - you know you'll do it later, so stop the fan dance!

Yes - I’m gonna get it, but for manual lenses only... :p

I already have far too many cameras for light, quick and fun: M6, M3, iiif, X1, X2, GX8, GX7, Digilux2, etc. That position is taken - sorry, new kid on the block, hard labour for you only...:D

Problem is lack of fast M wides on APS-C bodies. Been there with my R-D1, Ricoh GXR and Fuji X-E2 bodies. I ended up picking a 18/2 Fuji lens with focus and aperture ring for the latter but the lack of ring on TL 18/2.8 and 23/2 Leica lenses is another issue... Those TL lenses look smaller than the Fuji 18/2 though.

If they made a mini-SL type camera; with all the same buttons and menu system as the SL, I would buy it immediately. Or sooner.

Such a camera would likely require 2 years minimum design/development and it would clash with both the CL and the TL2 … thus unlikely to be in the pipeline.

Leica Camera AG is not Fujifilm i.e. does not have Fujifilm's resources to produce a broader range of mirrorless ICL cameras.

A sour note amid all this enthusiasm! Personally I was shocked to unbox my new CL and find it so light and small in the hands. No-one else has criticised this but I keep pressing the right control button rather than the more forwardly set shutter release. I don't find the CL haptics suit me and frankly I was immediately tempted to sell at a loss but will, I think, keep on the basis of image quality with M lenses.

It's best to have the CL in the hand before laying out a deposit, but I guess many will have ordered from dealers unable to offer this facility.

My Fuji X-E2 has almost the same size as the CL and is much more practical with a Thumb up i feel.  Leica sells one for the CL i believe. Could be worth a try.

The Q is wonderful, in so many ways, that you can hardly go wrong with it. I've not seen the CL, but I certainly wouldn't sell my Q in exchange.
