Yes that is all - as far as I can see.

I uploaded it, just out of curiosity and it worked properly - the menu says my camera is on Firmware 1.10.4.0 now.

In the list where you can manually chose a lens detection I don't find the two new lenses - which is normal as both were only offered (with M bayonet) coded, so they are not in the list. The outlier is the 1:5.6/28mm Summaron-M which still is in the list, though...  (see below)

I tried some functions which I know were wrong in the M10 firmware: e.g. wrong indication of EV "- 3" on the display when you choose any other value for EV-correction - after you switched the camera off and on again; before you switch it off it is right! Same bug as before.

When you chose the 28mm Summaron from the manual list of lens detection and use an adapter for the old screw-mount version - only possibility to use this entry in the list - your choice of the lens will not stay but it automatically switches to "Auto" - because the adapter doesn't cover the LED for reading the codes on lenses which have them. So the entry in the list is useless. Same as before.

Of course no f-values in the EXIF - though this bothers me as much as the Thambar or the new Noctilux...

I tried you bug (of which I wasn't aware) with 1.10.4.0, but it seems OK for me.  I tried several EV values, pos and neg, switch off/on and the EV value is retained between the switches.  Photo's taken correspond to EV setting and correct EV setting is given in play mode.  In fact, this behaviour is the same as in 1.0.4.0 because my firmware upgrade did not install the first time andthe M10 did a recovery upgrade, which means back to 1.0.4.0 which is apparently built-in.  At first I didn't notice this, so was doing my tests with 1.0.4.0.

I’d like to believe that adding a lens profile is easier than fixing bugs and testing those to make sure that the ‘cure’ won’t break anything else.

I believe that's true - though I don't know what it takes to add a new function for lens detection.

On the other hand we hear, that the new Noctilux will be in the stores probably next March and I doubt that there are many Thambars sold now whilst I still cannot imagine what the lens detection would do with a Thambar. Nevertheless they were very quick to add those new detections.

When I look at my R-to-M or my Macro-Adapter, I see that both are coded. When I use the coded adapters - what does lens detection of the M10 do? Nothing. Perhaps I missed something, though I could imagine that automatic lens detection would trigger the last R-lens I choose from the menu; since I have only one R-lens, this could be convenient. Nonetheless I have to choose always the same lens from the menu manually although my adapter is coded. The Macro-Adapter could trigger the lens detection for the Makro Elmar, which it doesn't.

Both functions are not really important, as well as other "bugs" as long as they don't impede the camera to function as it should.

I realize that Leica is rather quick with functions for lenses which are not to be bought yet or just by a very small handful of people, but rather slow about some common issues.

What would be nice is a menu setting to disable the live-view button on the back. I was out last week, and the button got pressed while the camera hung around my neck and bounced into my jacket. The first time it didn't register, so it kept draining the battery for no reason. I noticed it the second time, so I turned it of right-away.

I seldom use the live-view option (no1 reason being the almost mirror-like reflective screen), so if I wanted live view it's no problem to enter the menu to enable it. Or the option that you need to press longer to activate it.

I just received my M10. It has firmware 1.9.4.0. I haven't updated to 1.10.4.0 since it appears only to add the two new lenses. However, the Lux AA Double Aspherical 11873 is missing from the manual list in 1.9.4.0. It was in the list of the 240. Would someone with 1.10.4.0 please check if 11873 is in the list?

Thanks,

Alan

What exif bug?

I started this thread about it:

https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/279286-exiftool-reveals-m10-metadata-is-sloppy-work/

Basically it seems like the EXIF data that says how many bytes long the color profile information is is not correct. There's some other weirdness too when extracting image preview data from the EXIF data. It's not catastrophic, but it should at least be correct.

Perhaps not the camera per-se, but I frequently find that DNG files imported to my iPhone 6 are often unreadable but either the photo browser or LIghtroom (mobile version). Using the Leica app and WiFi to transfer. I have much better success when importing them to an iPhone 7.

Leica has never supported the pre-ASPH 35 Summilux on digital in any way, shape or form. No profile exists, no associated 6-bit code exists. Never in the 11 years since the M8 came out. It is a "non-person" in Leica's digital world.

...

adan's statement puzzled me after I thought I found it yesterday in the menu of the M9.

So I checked again: the ordering number for the 35mm Summilux was 11870 (black) and 11860 (titanium).

Here is the list in the menu of the M9:

In the M10 list it is left out as well as the entry for the ASPHERICAL. In stead we have an entry for the 1:5.6/28mm Summaron which is unusable for the old version with screw-mount adapter (the new M-version doesn't need a manual entry since it is always coded...)
