jaapv Posted October 11, 2017 Share #182 Posted October 11, 2017 Not all posts from the Summilux 80 R are that convincing like this one! (I often am happy I sticked to my 75lux, but here the 80 really comes aside) There is very little difference optically between the Summilux 75 M and the Summilux 80 R. russell Posted October 11, 2017 Share #191 Posted October 11, 2017 the 28 v.3 - the quintessential lower-contrast Mandler lens c. 1980. Yeah, what's up with this lens? I've a copy that Leica rebuilt a few year back due to element separation on the edges. In spite of the large size and relatively slow speed, I can't get it off my camera. It's too good. Nails focus every time - wide and slow enough that slop is taken care of. Resolution in the areas that count (centre) is as much or more than any lens I have -- at f4 the resolution is what I'd call seamless. Colours smooth. Just enough out of focus areas to let you know it's there with quality. Etc... So, here I am stuck with this ugly duckling as my go-to lens (usually combined with a 50) because it's just too good. otto.f Posted October 12, 2017 Share #194 Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) TL2 w R 80 1.4 This for instance is not such a very convincing capture withe the 80lux. Don’t know if this is movement blur, lack of contrast or both, but I do not see a nicely defined selective focus Edited October 12, 2017 by otto.f
ropo54 Posted October 12, 2017 Share #195 Posted October 12, 2017 This for instance is not such a very convincing capture withe the 80lux. Don’t know if this is movement blur, lack of contrast or both, but I do not see a nicely defined selective focus There was an intermittent slight breeze and I may have tried stopping down the lens just a bit. I cannot recall more specifically. I appreciate your critique. Rob
