Guys Mandler has very special charisma, I shoot exclusively with it during my visit in US. It is really beauty and very effective at night and dark places!! I love it!! Most of these photos were captured wide open at max ISO 1000 for night photos

Sorry, may I ask which Mandler lens this is on which body?

I like this thread! Let me share a picture taken in Edinburgh with my good old fat Tele-Elmarit 90mm, I liked the drawing and handling.

On top of the photo you see the typical dark band, most likely an internal reflection.

I never managed to find out when this band would appear, it has spoiled quite a few photos and slides.

This picture is from June 1975 and the film is FP4.

Just saw this post, Maarten  - forgive my late reply.

This is a curtain problem (light leak) - fairly common and there are threads about it on this site. I believe you can improve it by tightening the tension of the curtains - maybe a quarter turn (no more, as it can affect you curtain timing), pulling your curtain more tightly against the frame box.  The reason it seems intermittent, is that you have left these frames in the gate, had your f-stop fairly open, and haven't had the cap on your lens.  Simple remedy that I now use on my M2 is to always stop down to f/16 - f/22 between shots (if I'm going to leave a shot in the gate) - if I'm shooting a lot of frames in succession, I don't bother, as they're not in the gate long enough to be effected.   I, too,  rarely use a lens cap, but now always put my camera down lens down when not using.  Good habits that will also prevent the dreaded hole burn in the curtain.  --- Oh, and if your wondering about a more permanent, official fix, those of us with the problem have investigated and the camera would have to be taken apart; it would be an expensive fix. If you use a collector's piece, or have a newer film M, it may be worth your while.  My camera with the problem is an old M2, beautiful and beloved, but could probably be replaced for the cost of the fix.
