If I were Leica I wouldn't use a member of this forum member to test products. Our forum tends to be Leica fans (or even apologists) who are reluctant to criticize the products or demand the state-of the art from them. I know because I'm one of them. I mean, whenever anyone mentions that the Auto ISO setting should actually be an auto-ISO setting, half the forum responds by saying "why would you want auto ISO?" :)

Judging everyone by your own standards might draw you into the misconception that everyone's like you, which of course isn't the case. Some Leica beta-testers happen to be members of this forum as well as objective, clear-thinking, adept photographers, some of whom are professional photographers as well. (For disclosure, I'm not a beta-tester myself.)

I for one, have been scolded by the site admin for being too negative about Leica due to comments I have made during the auto-ISO fiasco. This isn't just a place for fan boys, although there are some in evidence, for sure,

That said, it am not the beta tester and even if I were, one beta tester, no matter who they were, doesn't seem like enough to me. Wasn't it established that the auto-ISO fiasco was due to a couple of squeaky wheels who believed their way was the only way? Fair enough. I can't understand their point of view and they can't understand mine, but it should be up to Leica to understand that their is a range of possible valid uses out there.

It's a pity I wasn't given the Leica M240 to test for a few days.

Most likely I wouldn't have bought one.

The dilemma for me NOW is should I keep it ??????? perhaps after the new firmware, it might convince me to keep it.

In the M9 leica gave us the choice to push or not push a button while changing EC. In the M Leica took this choice from us and forces us to push a button. Every one I know doesn't like that and prefers not to push a button.

In the M9 Leica gave us auto iso in manual mode, in the M it took it away. To be honest I couldn't care less because I never use auto iso other than in A mode. But this was a feature very important for many street photographers and it would have been easy to keep it as an option in the menu.

Ok, Leica. It is now June 2nd. So where's the firmware?

The firmware will be released when it is ready. Leica never promised a specific release date.

I won't complain, and will patiently wait for the firmware to be released.

The only thing I can say, if the firmware comes with AutoISO "correction" only, I'll stop following this forum for a while and go out and take some shots. It makes no sense.

Fair point. Do we have any headsup about the included fixes? The ones mentioned at Leica rumors site must be correct I presume.

Depends on what you mean by auto iso correction. The lock-up syndrom will be fixed hopefully but auto iso in manual mode is a new feature that is not granted i'm afraid. I would rather expect a fixed minimum shutter speed in auto mode but i may be completely wrong.

Regarding the fixed minimum shutter speed I believe there should changes as well.

1/focal length doesn't work so well on digital. I'd rather see option like 1/2 x focal length or 1/1.5 x focal length.
