t occurs to me that, like many here, wandering with a camera just hones your perception that little bit more. Looking with an eye to making a photograph, well, you just see things differently. Or is it that you just SEE things, period? I'm not sure, but the overwhelming evidence in this thread is that there are many here that experience that same sensation, and I am grateful that such a thread exists to share it and to marvel at the disparate and unique visions of so many gifted photographers.

Definitely, Phil.  Taking photos has changed my perception of the world around me and even when I don't carry a camera with me, I'm looking for angles and frames..... Sometimes it becomes a compulsion... And it is a never ending joy---finding those frames and angles myself and marveling at the finds of all the people contributing here...

Many years ago I found myself with similar habits but I took a different path as I felt it was not a joy, it was polluting my experience of the world around me so I took a break to give my brain a chance to revert. I now have to be careful to keep things in balance.

Wow!

I agree with oldwino, Steve - Wow! I had never heard of Chroma cameras. What is the Six12 like in use? How do you focus it?

Anyway, a lovely picture - I particularly like the inclusion of the small waterfall on the left hand side!

Tuna, I love the color contrast, the negative space in the composition and the application of the rule of thirds;  adequate to the classic theme. What film did you use ?  And did you measure for the shadow or the light ?

Thank you Klaus - this was captured in 2005 and the “EXIF” is hard to remember exactly but I am a creature of habit so it is very likely Fuji Reala. I would have shot at 1/30, wide open or close to it - exposing for the painting and letting the shadowed areas fend for themselves…
