How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “c

I am part way through culling my stock of c. 20k photos in Lightroom , to leave just definite keepers. When I got back to 2007/8 I was once again struck by just how good my digilux 2 photos were. They glow with colour. On reflection, I think only some more recent Monochrom pictures match the aesthetic pleasure derived. I can see me re-acquiring a good second hand model. The files are small...3.5 mb … and I was also struck by how little adjustment I needed to make in LR. We live and learn.

At the beginning of this century it was normal for a 14-year-old camera to remain operational. With digital cameras, however, this is no longer the case.
With the Digilux 2 it seems that we were wrong to retire it.
I think I appreciate it more today than I did 10 years ago.
This picture is from this weekend. Not retouched

To keep it going, after 5 years of not having one. The obvious happened, bought a D2 again... 

For emotional reasons, happy to be able to take it out again! Natural bokeh is still nicer than smartphone “bokeh”

And another one, the detail here is amazing for a 5MP sensor. But I did not have to tell you that. We are doing that here for nearly 15 years.. ;)

I have been going through this thread as I was curious who was still shooting a D2, and why. Upon scrolling through the images, I am very impressed at how lovely the color is...far nicer, as far as I can tell, than most of the digital cameras I have seen. I am still using the Leica S006 for the same reason, though it is obviously quite a bit newer. I am glad that you all are able to keep using this camera and taking advantage of its lovely color and lens quality.

The superb colour is a hallmark of D2 pictures as you've found.  I still have 2 D2's although they don't venture out of the house as often as they might but I find that when I do take one of them with me I enjoy using it so much and its pictures so much that it gets used quite often for a while.
