Do Digilux 2 photos have distinctive look?

I also have 2 D2’s, one that my 14-year-old son uses, and one that I use, particularly for landscapes (mostly b&w) or when I need a zoom. It partners well with my M8, 40mm Summicron, and 21mm Skopar. I’ve bought and sold a few D2’s over the years, but I always come back. I just love the lens, the color, and especially, the in-camera b&w! Oh, I almost forgot the Elpro-D. My go-to macro setup!

The superb colour is a hallmark of D2 pictures as you've found.  I still have 2 D2's although they don't venture out of the house as often as they might but I find that when I do take one of them with me I enjoy using it so much and its pictures so much that it gets used quite often for a while.

Pete.

Almost the same with me. Still love my M8, the D2 and the little pocketable C 112. Next to the D2 I also have the X Vario (superb lens sensor combination) that could be seen as a successor for the D2. If one of these two had to go, a difficult decision, the D2 would remain but for the moment they all stay. There is something special I like in handling the D2, it's digital but feels more like using an analog camera. Just purchased a new battery and also a usb charger.

Soft flat lighting is superb for floral nature shots.

I went on a bit of a spending spree this quarter & finally, after many years, picked up a LW69 wide angle adapter. I have not had the chance to put it to good use yet (it *IS* remarkably heavy!), but I am planning to work solely with the Digilux and the adapter for the next couple of weeks.

For now, I share this dynamic black and white picture of...a wall. Edited in Lightroom.

So good to see the D2 and LC1s still kicking...let's keep the pictures coming!

[ Tamas, I wonder if you could re-post your photo of rocks and water to the "Do Digilux 2 Photos Have Distinctive Look" thread. A lot of D2 owners, such as me, may have thought their 5mp cameras wouldn't support that large a print. A technician in a photo shop once looked at one of my files and told me it would print to 18 x 24 inches, which I was glad to hear, but I haven't tried it. Looking at your shot, I now think I will. ]

Jethorst, as requested: print size 60 X 60 cm - 50% cropped

Hi Leica Forum,

Like many of you, I've returned home to the D2. I had, and sold, two to " upgrade " to more MP. etc. However never could capture with other cameras, that D2 look I so fondly remembered. Accordingly, eventually sold it all and came home. Now the proud owner of two lovely D2(s), serial numbers 3013xxx and 3013xxx.

Best, Angus

P.S...many more here...https://www.flickr.com/photos/gusmur2/

Hi all, first post from Singapore and glad to find this forum. I have been collecting older CCD cameras lately and was fortunate to find a mint D2 in Japan last Dec (just 2 months after I purchased a Fuji X100 which provided me some basic training ~ thankfully).

Here's one random shot, JPEG SOOC (F8 ISO100) which I tried many times to reproduce with other CMOS / CCD cameras but failed miserably.... I still find it hard to believe. So I'm keeping this magical camera in good care only for use when I need to produce something special, while X100 is my manual setting "practice" camera.

Anyway hope I'm doing right to resize this 3mb+ pic below to 500kb size for attachment?, and look forward to learning from everyone here.

Best,
