Interesting that no other camera has a thread like this. Reason? There is no other camera like this! There are "better" cameras for sure, but there is nothing like it.

:D

i agree .... there's nothing like the D2 .... i just got a panasonic LX-3 yesterday .... it records VERY nice images, but the process of doing that (menus, submenus, joysticks, control tabs, scene modes, options available only when other options are activated, etc etc etc) is utterly horrid .... takes the humanity out of taking pictures.

the D2 is probably the last of its kind.

Funny... I took a couple of my Digilux 2s for a spin this afternoon... a local "Taste" festival in town. No less than six people stopped me to ask about the Leicas... among them, two pro-shooters and a staffer from the city newspaper... the closest large city. He and I spoke for sometime and upon getting to the introductions, he responded with "oh my God... I follow you on Twitter." LOL - funny and kept the conversation going about 20 minutes.

Anyway, they're lovely cameras. This was not the best conditions for it today... bright harsh sun and everything half in the shadows and half out. But, still glad I took Leica instead of Canon. With the Canons I'd have shot three times the number of images and equally has bad exposures and less interesting compositions. They make me slip into production mode.

Just when I'm trying to "learn" my Nikon 700, the D2 comes back from Solms. Doh! :D

Pete, I know the feeling. However I'm sure you'll find a way for both cameras to coexist. In my domestic setting, my D2 is always the first camera to find a home in my hands! It is a reborn joy every time.

Olaying around with the Leica ELPRO-D E69 Macro Filter on the Digilux 2 to do atmosphere for a record sleeve.

Always surprise me how amazingly easy the Leica Digilux 2 is to get usable photos out of.

All 100 ISO, manual white balanced to flatpanel daylight LED lights (5200 K) with surrounding light as tungsten (3100 K).

"Road"

(picture "Mountain Road" of a few posts back, with everything but the road photoshopped out). I like spooky.

Used the d2 copiously during my trip to Europe. The fast lens actually allowed for a bus-shot (3rd one) that looked better than expected. Minimal fotoshop involved.

Amazing how this camera is able to withstand the passage of time and technology. It still remains the camera I enjoy to shoot the most with.

My contribution, originally posted for a b&w competition on dpreview

This is such a good collection of images. I'm a bit of a beginner so please forgive me but I humbly add a photograph I took last sunday with my D2 when I was up the Pennines. In tribute to such a great camera and this amazing and unique thread, which inspired me. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread over the years.

Wow... last time I saw that view I was 6 or 7 years-old with my nose pressed against the glass of an old Morris 10 (I think) .... more than 50 years ago. .... sigh.

To answer the question of this thread: definitely yes! I like how light conditions are kept also if you use sometimes the automatic function.

3 fotos I made during my visit of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Nothing changed, and the light and colors are really as they were...(I only compressed size for this thread).

I got a chuckle out of your Florence shot.... or to be more accurate, my Naples (Florida) shot.
