algrove Posted October 19, 2014 Share #341 Posted October 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is the eye 100% from the shot I previously published. honestly this sharpness is crazy to any standard for such a luminous lens. NOTE: this 75mm Summilux-M is "Made in Germany" and came with 6-bit out of box though i've heard myths about german versions are better or 6-bit versions had better calibration for digital and etc. maybe someone can confirm these claims i'm kind of agnostic in this case 75Lux is 130gr heavier than 75apocron but most of its weight is in the front and without a grip this lens on any M camera feels really uncomfortable; i guess thats the price to pay for Mandler's masterpiece Nice HRH shots. A couple questions If you cropped these images, about what percent was cropped out? Also what was your approximate distance from HRH? Thanks for any input. fjheimann Posted October 22, 2014 Share #343 Posted October 22, 2014 Philip, if I were to look for a 75mm today I would definitely consider the Summicron. Don't go the milky way. I enjoy 1,4 2.0 and 2.5. It depends on the object, Franz

otto.f Posted October 24, 2014 Share #349 Posted October 24, 2014 (edited) IIIfPost some more please as I am thinking of selling my 75 lux. Many people post portraits to show the qualities of the lux75. I think we should not underrate its charm for the theater. Before I took this photo tonight from Mats Ek's ballet Sleeping Beauty, I was considering selling my 75 too. Welcome, dear visitor! mirekti Posted December 19, 2014 Share #354 Posted December 19, 2014 I had the 75mm lux in my hands and it's really, really heavy compared to my other lenses (I don't own a Noctilux), it's big too. I am kind of glad this happen. Given the weight, size, and purpose (I'd use it for portraits only) I know I would have a love-hate relationship with this lens for sure. otto.f Posted December 19, 2014 Share #357 Posted December 19, 2014 Compared to an SLR lens it's small. Yes, and at least with a lux75 you know what you're carrying it for, which is not always the case with the SLR zoom-party. I must say, that once on the camera this whole size/weight idea is gone. The lens carries the body so to speak, of course with an M6 more so than with an M240. You carry the whole holding the lens at its base, which is a perfect ergonomic feeling. It contributes to the possibility to shoot at 1/15 without problems.
mirekti Posted December 19, 2014 Share #358 Posted December 19, 2014 Compared to an SLR lens it's small. But I don't own an SLR. As if I told you, these car seats were uncomfortable, and you replied: Yes, but the not as bad as using a bicycle.
Jennifer Posted August 30, 2015 Share #359 Posted August 30, 2015 Same subject, much like the last I posted to this thread. Boring I know, but I think he's quite photogenic, notwithstanding some bias given he's my son. M246, Summilux 75 Higher Resolution Version Welcome, dear visitor! pgk Posted August 31, 2015 Share #360 Posted August 31, 2015 A shot which I think shows off the wide open characteristics of the 75mm Summilux. Its a spot I walk past very often and in the evening can be warmly lit by the low sun as it is here. I love the old, traditional slate fencing alongside the new plastic coveted metal and the modern metalled road with its lovely mature hedging. Using the narrow dof of the 75mm Summilux and its soft bokeh isolates the detail I want to emphasise and retains the impression of the background, but may not perhaps be to everyone's taste . The 75 Summilux certainly offers an alternative treatment though some will no doubt whinge about the 'test' nature of the shot (I like it myself, simple as that), however it does show what it is made me obtain a copy - I had an 80mm Summilux but somehow didn't get on with using it converted to Canon - bulk of the whole system I think. FWIW, stopped down the 75 offers the same high resolution as the 80 and displays the similar characteristic of clarity of detail without the clinically of the 75mm Summicron (which I have and appreciate for its own unique characteristics too).
