At the risk of being redundant... Don at DAG Camera Repair is the best. He received my camera/lens yesterday. I'd mentioned to him that I was heading out to Joshua Tree for a photo shoot, and whatever he could do to get the camera back to me would be greatly appreciated. That Cat sent me an email this afternoon to let me know that he'd completed the CLA on my M240, and corrected the back focus on my Zeiss lens. In ONE day. Carry on.

Folks, after some research online, I have seen some reputable places where people tend to send in their Leica stuff for inspection and repair: Leica NJ Don at DAG Youxin Steve's Camera etc (any other?) I understand that Leica NJ is the only official and authorized repair shop. But when considering the cost and reliability, and for some small issues of an M8, where would you rather to send your camera in for service (out of warranty)? Currently my M8 has some shutter speed LED problem (refer to http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/184233-why-m8-shutter-speed-display-sooo.html). And I have been hesitating where to send it for service. Unless it's safe, I won't go to any place other than Leica NJ. But if possible, going to other reputable camera service place can possibly save a bit. Any suggestion is appreciated.

SOS HELP!!! I dropped my Leica M4 and according to the NYC Camera Doctor repair team, the prism that creates the ghost image in the rangefinder is dislocated and needs to be replaced. They suggested that I send it directly into Leica for repairs, becuase the rangefinder is a complicated mechanism they wern't equipt to fix. They also let me know that Leica, located in New Jersey, dosen't do specific repairs and will want to do a full tune-up. Money is a concern, and I'm not prepared to pay $1000-ish if I can at all avoid it. I just want my range-finder to be functional. Has anyone had rangefinder work done, espeically on an M4? Would you advise having this work done by Leica or an outside repair person, such as DAG? Any experience or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. E
