Just back from Golden Touch ( Sherry Krauter ) with a CLA and a new first curtain ready to roll ! What amazed me most was how brilliant the view finder is after a good cleaning .

Hi Tony - sure this question's been answered before, but I'm gonna start using my 28 on the M2 and I'm wondering how the view through the entire finder corresponds to the 28mm fov?

I'm intending to concentrate very much on the edges of the image, so I just need to know if an external finder is really necessary?

Thanks for your impressions on this!

Hi Pasticman

Seems to work OK for me, I mostly used a 50mm on the camera

(I had to use the 50mm on my M8 to get this shot)

at the end of the day it's best to test it out

enjoy your 28 - it's a superb lens!

Hi

Well I do as well, but it more difficult if you wear glasses, but so are the 28mm lines on a M6, compared with the 35mm lines.

A Russion clone of the Zeiss 28mm -135mm varifinder is cheap, if you need to be more exact...

Hi Noel

Thanks for the advice, I use galsses as well - I'll look out for a Russki finder.

If I've time, ie. landscapes, to work on a shot, I focus with my glasses on and then take them of to frame and shoot.

I'm new to Leica and this forum. After much study, I've taken the Leica plunge and have bought a M2 camera and a 50mm f2 Summicron DR lens. The M2 body just came in and my first impression is how SOLID it is and how great it feels in my hands. The lens is on the way. I'm just wondering what to expect. I have been photographing with Nikon gear for over 30 years.

Hi

You should get nice photos if you stop fondling it and load a film.

The DR need's a hood and desirabley a MC UV filter. The coating and front surface are soft, dont clean it.

I had to buy my M2 a new friend, today. I had 3 bodies and only 2 lenses, so it was feeling a bit left out.

This lens is from 1958 and is cleaner than a nun's conscience.

Seconded. I've had a DR twice over the years - such a pleasure to use and capable of lovely "rounded" results. Nice to see it with an IROOA too. A great companion to the M2. Good choice, Andy.

Regards,

Bill
