Did you do a full format on your card after the update?

Yes, I did that, Jaap. First formatted the card using SD Card Formatter and then for good measure a second format in camera.

Besides, this was my third session with v2.1.1

If you have user profiles, you may wish to update them.

According to a well-known Chinese proverb: "one glitch does not make a disaster".

As a last resort, a complete factory reset may be an option.

We'll see how this plays out, but right now I'm not too worried.

Sorry to report that I had my first glitch today. I took four or five photos within a few minutes when the camera suddenly became unresponsive when I pressed the shutter button for the next photo. The red LED remained on and the power switch had no effect. Had to take out the battery after which the camera worked without any further problems.

Bring on the next firmware version please ...

I had exactly the same problem. Hopefully is Leica really able to fix it, because this problem affects directly shooting itself :(

I unfortunately had the same problem last night.

Yep. Same here, not really sure what was going on, i was thinking that I had grabbed an empty battery, which is why it was not responding.

The battery was full, and after restarting it worked all day fine.

Let’s not be too snotty to new members here. I remember when a lot of people started here and did the same thing.

Until I see their freeze reports corroborated by other members who've been here more than a few days, I'll stick with being cautious about believing them.

I had another problem with this fw that I didn't see on the previous version, and that's a weird battery problem. Twice I got the low battery warning message, even though the battery was almost fully charged. After turning it off and on, the battery percentages displayed correctly.
Both of my batteries are less than 5 months old and should therefore still be in good condition.

Same issue happened here once, M11-P automatically shut down after low battery message just after inserting 100% charged battery. After off/on  battery percentage display was 100%.

@Knorp, do try the full reset as well as letting go of all your user presets. Please report back how it works afterward.

Hi there James

I’ve known @Knorp for probably 25 years - and I can assure you that he is meticulous and also cautious - you can take what he says as gospel - even Leica didn’t say they had got rid of all the freezes, and I’ve had one a little like this as well.

All the best

I haven't experienced an automatic shutdown, but if it did, I'm really worried. Can you imagine if this error came up when cleaning the sensor?

Hi there hdmesa,

Well, I gave it some more thought and decided, as per your suggestion, to do the honorable thing.

And if I run into another glitch you'll be the first to know and treat us to a round of beer ... that's reasonable right ?

:)

Kind regards.

PS just saying: I don't like beer ...

Crikey - 25 odd years already, Jonathan ? We were still youngsters then !

All the very best.

My M11 has just had its second crash in its entire life.  I’ve had it since it came onto the market.  The first crash was a few weeks ago, just before the new firmware arrived.  Today it got stuck while formatting the sd card.  I had just downloaded photos with Leica Fotos on an iPad via wifi.  That was the usual glitchy affair with at least 5 tries and once having to turn the camera off before it managed to download all 4 photos.  With a cable it is much more reliable.  Anyway, once the photos had downloaded, and while the app was still having a connection, I decided to format the card as I always do.  After a while the app told me it disconnected because the storage had changed.  However the camera never got out of formatting.  Removing the battery brought it back to normal.

I guess deep formatting the card in SD formatter will cure the problem. There are strong indications that the problems were caused by hidden files. If the file structure of the card is damaged, a simple format will not help. It is no more than replacing the first bit of all files by a question mark, making them superficially invisible. To restore the proper structure on the card only a full format will do.
