People with firmware 1.6.2, like me, do NOT update.

Let the 2.0.2 people eat the crab first, they have suffered and they don't have anything to lose anyway.

I will sit for about a couple of month until the dust settles down and come back to re-assess the situation.

To update or not to update that is the question....

I have 2.0.2 and my camera works i would say 99% without issues :)

Will wait for the brave users.. would be nice if leica could somehow mention what was causing the issues. I know it's not going to happen....

Just updated my M11-M. I have only had the camera about two weeks, with not problems so far. Will see how it does on the new firmware and then update my M11-P.

I downloaded 2.1.1 for my M11 this morning, copied it to the root directory of my SD card, ensured that the camera's battery was at 100%, and proceeded with the update. Typically -- and I've been running firmware updates on M bodies for years -- I watch the progress bar and then follow the instructions when the update is completed. However, this morning, the camera powered off shortly into the update. I haven't done anything yet for fear that if I manually move the power switch to off and back on, I'll cause an issue. I put it in call to Leica USA and left a voice mail but I don't have a lot of confidence that I'll hear back. Anyone else ever have this happen?

If you power on with the card in place and the camera goes into the standard update procedure I do not think that there is any harm done. If not you won’t have made things worse.

Thank you Andreas. Just did the fw 2.1.1 update. My user profiles under 2.0.2 seem to work normally. Having had no issues under 2.0.2 i don't expect any under 2.1.1 either but i will report if i get any.

Updated both M11 and M11 Mono, and it seems so far the FW has solved a couple of issues: 1. consistent sharpness of JPEG preview of RAW file (previously only the first shot preview is sharp, though this doesn't affect RAW files); 2. much better AWB; 3. reduced magenta tint, which gives more accurate color overall; 4. no camera freeze so far (I didn't have that many to begin with). Very happy so far with firmware 2.1.1. and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'm leaving for an Arizona vacation tomorrow so I bit the bullet and I did the update. It went well although it took a while to process it. I'm still baffled why it asks you if you want to save the profile on the SD card if saving the profile on the SD card actually messes up the whole process and you need to format the card again and copy again the firmware file on it. Basically my experience was always that if I select "Yes" when asked about saving the profile on the SD card, that thing stops the process. But, fortunatelly, you can format the card and try again. Successfully.
