I got mine using the Hotstock app on a Saturday morning from Leica USA.  I then received a call from a U.S. Leica store Monday morning and would have loved to get it from them but my order was already placed.  Since then I have had two other Leica stores in U.S. who's list I got on call asking if I still wanted one.  It appears the dealers are doing exactly what they say they will with a wait list.  I had only bought one lens from the first store that called and nothing from the others.

Just wondering if SL3 cameras are becoming more available since the wider publication and Leica's global email response to the overwritten files issue?

Some could be cancelling orders and or their wait list position in the ace of a camera with troubles? I know of some who received their cameras this week after waiting since March 2024, thats four months and one person holding off and considering the Canon R1 wait list instead.

Ken,   That might well be the case with the email announcement.  I wouldn't be surprised if those waiting for SL3s either cancel or simply wait until the issues are resolved.  Frankly, it might be wise to simply wait another 6 months and see what evolves from Leica with the "fix(es)".   r/ Mark

That's sensible advice.  Such a shame that so many recent Leica camera releases have been plagued with problems.

T25UFO,  I agree with you about the camera releases.  I could envision 1 camera being bug prone, but not multiple camera releases.  I suspect we will never know the real cause(s) of the bugs and how this all evolved.  Was it poor software development, faulty hardware, counterfeit components, engineering deficiencies, inadequate testing from the start...some, part or all the above?  I have been with Leica for decades as a user, and never experienced this level of issues with M11s, SL3 (don't own just read the threads), Q3 etc.  I really enjoy using the Leica system and created many photographs that my clients thought well enough to buy over the many years with the various systems.  I just hope the company regains its mojo with the M12 etc, and creates a reliable camera first and foremost and go from there.  Perhaps they will learn more is not often better, or taking a 75 year old camera and trying to make into an Apple M camera is not the way to go.  The pros and well heeled amateurs expect highly reliable, bug free or nearly so products considering the asking price by Leica.  r/ Mark

Not in Germany they are not. This dealer had availability even before the email from Leica. https://www.woeltje.de/produkt/leica-sl3?gad_source=4&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7LTzhoqShwMVJlaRBR2tWgmLEAQYCiABEgI-GvD_BwE&source=google

I doubt it. While real, the issue is quite rare. Instead, the initial high demand is petering off, and the regular demand can be covered with the production capacity.

Ken, there has been close to twenty used SL3s for sale on the Fred Miranda site over the past 3 months. Here's an example of one that's up right now:

Is that the only issue currently with the SL3?

Do the files overwrite only if the memory card has been removed?  When does the overwriting happen?

I believe it's as per the statement released by Leica and it happens when the battery is removed while the camera remains on or in standby modes. Also if the camera shuts down (freezes) and you need to remove battery temporarily to reboot. Also the advice for when  power runs down to such an extent the camera switches off. Another issue I know of is electronic shutter speed 1/16000 does not work in A and P modes. Exposures requiring such a speed will end up severely clipped as the only useable speed for the SL3 is 1/8000 in the modes A and P. I was going mad when out street shooting at 1.4 the other day and just couldn't achieve a good exposure. Ruined my day on the street trying to get my settings right.
