I am not sure yet if i need (again) a Q-body, since I also own a M11.

If I buy a Q I would probably look for a used , low priced Q2 because of cost.

If I didn have the M11 I would be quite interested in the Q3 and probably get one.

I ticked "stick with my Q2". The main reasons:

  • I am still reading opinions of the new AF, especially for body/face/eye recognition. So far I don't get the impression it is as good as my SL2-S. In the end I will have to find an opportunity to try it for myself. (The speed of AF with the Q2 has never been my concern; it has been the Q2's inability to even recognise a body/face/eye).
  • I heard today that the Q3 cannot have its video limit of 30mins removed by a firmware update. Thus I cannot use it for recording stage performances on a tripod.

But it will saves me some money. Other, trivial, reasons for being content with this:

  • I like my Reporter finish.
  • I don't want a flip screen, which detracts from the Q2's clean lines.

What appeals to me about the Q3? Nothing much, unless the AF is improved much more than it appears. The extra pixels are a de minimis change. 8k video WOULD have been useful (allowing virtual zoom and pan at 4k or FHD), if the video recording limit had been removed.

Agreed with Daryl and frame-it. I have a Q2 and Ricoh GRIIIx, and I use the GRIIIx by far the most. This is a function of both size and focal length. Unfortunately, the very wide 28mm in the Q series is just too wide for me. I use the Q2 more as a wide angle for my SL system than as a universal day to day camera. If Leica made a 40mm (even 35mm), it would be far more useful. Having 60mp for cropping is nice, but if you intend to use 40mm or 50mm+, the viewfinder becomes difficult to judge as the frameline area is so small. I think it would also be extremely useful to give the option to show the cropped area, not just framelines. Finally, I think a 40mm could likely be more compact than the 28mm, not unlike the compact 40mm f2 in the original CL. The 28mm was brilliant on 24mp, but in my experience it is a bit outclassed by the sensor even in the Q2 (it is on par performance wise with the 24mm 3.5 Sigma on my SL2). I don't think I would be satisfied with the same 28mm lens on a 60mp Q3. I would definitely prefer a top class 40mm f2 or even 2.8. 40mp or so is enough, as long as the lens is tack sharp edge to edge (when at 5.6 at least). That's my very subjective take...

I should say as well that the most appealing thing in the new Q3 to me is the better EVF. The tilting screen does not really matter to me at all, but I recognize it is critical for others. As long as it does not get in the way, I am fine with it.

Tempted, but I like the Q2 aesthetics, and the JPG color, so I don’t want to lose that output in exchange for current megapixel and color saturation trends. (Would appreciate feedback! Thanks)

I bought the Q on release date in June 2015. Upgraded to Q2 for the sensor size and weather sealing, but the Q was very robust anyway. Find Q2 the perfect camera and my M system is largely unused.

Don't want a flip screen (reminds me of Sony), don't need more pixels (reminds me of Sony), don't do video, don't photograph speeding bullets and the Q2 EVF is perfectly fine, thanks very much.

So no Q3 for me.

Plus, the Q3 half case offers little/no protection to the back edge of the camera which for my Q was a lifesaver. I trashed the half case but the camera was fine. I also have a nice new half case for the Q2.
