Advertisement Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Hi kivis, Take a look here I am stranded on an island.......... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 24, 2023 Share #2  Posted February 24, 2023 I would take a 40mm one, or wait- a 24 mm one, no, a 60, hang on, a 28, or rather a 75... Decisions, decisions. 👺
Jeff S Posted February 24, 2023 Share #3  Posted February 24, 2023 With a MATE… gain company as well as several focal lengths. Jeff

mujk Posted February 24, 2023 Share #5 Â Posted February 24, 2023 Depends on the size of the island. If its a small one, choose the 35mm. 1
robsonj Posted February 24, 2023 Share #6 Â Posted February 24, 2023 35mm, you can always walk forward, but with a 50mm, you may have to walk backwards, and you don't wanna get swept out into a shark infested sea from the island!
Stein K S Posted February 24, 2023 Share #7  Posted February 24, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) MATE would be the «smart ass» way out 😉… I have one and would have brought it… well, maybe not anyway due to risk of malfunction/mechanical breakdown? That would really be a pity on that deserted island. 😀 However, I do believe OP is attempting to push choice of just ONE focal length. And to me… no option: 35mm. Olaf_ZG Posted February 24, 2023 Share #8 Â Posted February 24, 2023 Who cares about the lens? Question is which camera? M, Q or SL?
Stein K S Posted February 24, 2023 Share #9  Posted February 24, 2023 (edited) Hmmm 😀… just curious about your aim here… So lets say; if all three where equipped with a 28 (assuming this would the the chosen FL), what substantial differences would the different bodies imply? As said, just curious as my experience is only with the M. Edited February 24, 2023 by Stein K S
burningheart Posted February 24, 2023 Share #10 Â Posted February 24, 2023 50 F0.95. Has the largest glass size that I might be able to use as a magnifying glass to light a fire. If I wanted to take pictures 50 Lux but what good will it do me when the battery is exhausted. No electricity to charge it with unless it's Gilligan's Island then the professor could jig up something to charge the battery.
Jeff S Posted February 24, 2023 Share #11  Posted February 24, 2023 Regardless of focal length, I’d recommend a lens with a floating element, just in case it’s accidentally dropped off land. Jeff 1
pgk Posted February 24, 2023 Share #12 Â Posted February 24, 2023 What sort of island?
dpitt Posted February 24, 2023 Share #13 Â Posted February 24, 2023 I would choose a Swiss army knife or a Leatherman in stead of the camera.
250swb Posted February 24, 2023 Share #14  Posted February 24, 2023 I’d take a gramophone and ten records, and the book of my choice would be the complete works of Shakespeare.

Is this then a probability or an uncertainty question - maybe you have not yet looked in your bag ; perhaps you forgot the camera as well, making the lens question irrelevant. The other flaw is that 35nn is dimensionally incorrect, so logically cannot exist ; let’s hope there is a 50mm lens and camera in your bag 🙂
jimmielx Posted February 24, 2023 Share #18  Posted February 24, 2023 35mm. Assuming you get rescued, you can crop later.
charlesphoto99 Posted February 24, 2023 Share #19  Posted February 24, 2023 50mm .95. Best to start fires from the sun with in order to fry up some fish.
Robert Blanko Posted February 25, 2023 Share #20  Posted February 25, 2023 35mm would be IMHO more useful and universal:  https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/1284111843/leica-kamera-kaffeetasse-leica-objektiv  Welcome, dear visitor!
