Mikep996 Posted October 20, 2022 Share #983  Posted October 20, 2022 (edited)  I hope whatever it is that they DON"T call it an M6!  Maybe an M6T  - (for a company Tax write-off) or an M6S - ("Seniors will jump on this thing!"  or maybe an M6F  ("we can Fool all the people all the time.")  Yeah, I think M6 F is the winner! Would have sold for so much more if non matte, like the vintage black paint cameras.  It says ‘scratch resistant’ so will the brass eventually show through with use? Kinda pointless covering the brass with scratch resistant paint so you can never see it. Especially when the most valuable Leicas on the market are ‘show through’ black paint brass  A glossy black paint in this same design would have been amazing. But still, waiting on the phone call from Leica tomorrow and see how I go If this is the recycling of NOS M6 top Plates no brass will come through. Especially when the most valuable Leicas on the market are ‘show through’ black paint brass Call me strange, but if I were going to spend a lot of money on a black camera, I'd really rather like it so stay black for as long as possible. The original japan black lacquer used on the early Leicas was very durable. Paint that wears off easily is a modern affectation, and even before Leica started offering that special finish that's meant to come off (and pre-brassed special editions!), the paint used on models like the M240 doesn't seem to have been particularly durable - most I see on sale have some degree of brassing, occasionally worse than a typical Leica II from the 1930s, after just a few years of use. I hope the new M6 finish is tougher than this. Edited October 20, 2022 by Anbaric
jakontil Posted October 20, 2022 Share #987 Â Posted October 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Or may be the same application like 28mm both black paint matte summaron limited edition and the summicron, as well as the M11 black, it would hardly go brass
a.noctilux Posted October 20, 2022 Share #988  Posted October 20, 2022 As side note, not in silver in new M6 ? I waited in 1984/85 the release of silver "Leitz" M6 to buy one 🎨. Still have it.

But still, waiting on the phone call from Leica tomorrow and see how I go The M11 scratch resistant black paint is the replacement for black chrome, which Leica has discontinued due to it being environmentally unfriendly. If you treat it well, it will never brass, but with heavy use and if chipped, it will show brass, unlike the old black chrome which would wear to the silver undercoating required to apply it to brass. Someone here had an M10 Reporter that had heavy wear, and the brass showing through where nicked and on edges looked nice. 2 hours ago, Yellow_78 said: This is interesting! Was this something that was speculated on this leica rumors? Or from one of your sources?  Anticipation is real, I just want to see it already haha! Just repeating the source of Leica Rumors, which has been this thread, lol. The two colors of the Steel Rim was posted by a new member with only a few posts, so I assume it was either someone trolling or more possibly a certain former forum member who always had accurate info. We’ll know for sure in less than two hours. Edited October 20, 2022 by hdmesa

sebben Posted October 20, 2022 Share #993  Posted October 20, 2022 My thoughts exactly. The MP also looks so much nicer.
kivis Posted October 20, 2022 Share #994 Â Posted October 20, 2022 Also not a big price difference. I see no value added. Is this just another 500 unit run for collectors to be put in a hermetically sealed box for investment?

Danner Posted October 20, 2022 Share #997 Â Posted October 20, 2022 I like that the display/retail box is nearly identical to the box I got with my 1985 "Leitz" M6. Â
dickgillberg Posted October 20, 2022 Share #998 Â Posted October 20, 2022 I think it looks nice. I love my black MP as smooth it is. Sometimes I miss the M6 rewind crank for faster rewind, but that probably all. Might buy one for that if the smooth action from MP is there also. shirubadanieru Posted October 20, 2022 Share #999  Posted October 20, 2022 Interesting does not seem to be a special edition but indeed the price does not make sense (unless they decide to increase the MP price or phase it out).

I'll have to watch the video again. What is the price vs. MP?
