Thanks Louis!

I had an interesting moment happen yesterday just after I took my last shot of the day and was turning to walk to my car. A guy walking past with his friend stopped and said, "Is that a Leica CL? And what lens is that on there? Very cool camera!" He and she smiled and continued on as I said thank you, etc.

It's pretty rare that someone notices and comments on me making photos with a Leica, never mind what kind of Leica it might be or that it isn't a standard lens I'm using. He must have been an arts or photography student at nearby San Jose State University.

I have often been amazed to get the same kind of comments in the street.

Once I was shooting people of a concert, a huge crowd of photographers were fighting to shoot some girls. A photographer with his big Canon and giant lens saw my CL and gave me way, saying “ after you boss” ! :)

I don’t know if this is the red dot effect. lol

I was downtown in San Jose for a walk and afternoon coffee yesterday, carrying the Leica CL fitted with the Elmarit-R 19mm f/2.8 v1 lens, testing this lovely old Walter Mandler design lens out on the new body, essentially.

I made nine photos in my short walk around the neighborhood, mostly playing with shapes and spaces, objects and people:

...

The Elmarit-R 19mm f/2.8 v1 lens has a rather bulky front element, but proves to be reasonably easy to handle and work with on the CL body despite that. It focuses quite close and gives a field of view approximating that of a 28 to 30mm lens on a FF format camera on the CL's APS-C sensor. For this lens, I found myself using focus peaking and magnification quite often to obtain accurate focus.

Perhaps the new TL18mm lens is a lot smaller, a lot lighter, and all that ... it would certainly be less to carry. But I like shooting with this old R lens quite a lot regardless. :)

enjoy!

Such a good set!

Leica CL / 18-56

I have to give a bit more respect to this lens.

It definitely has a little bit of magic inside it, given the right circumstances. This is direct from camera, no editing at all, shot at f5.6 (wide open) at 56mm, ISO400 And although it wont be winning any prizes, I think the lens has done well in this snapshot.

Very interesting Louis but what the heck is it?

Hahahaha

Thanks, Bill; but I have no idea what  this tropical plant is called. I saw it growing on the terrace of Key Biscayne tearoom and found it very interesting to shoot.:)

It looks like an unripened pomegranate.

I am not sure about pomegranate. These ones have a kind of pear shape and are quite small. Here is another shot in which we can see the whole plant and leaves much better. The leaves are also very different from pomegranate leaves.

Fun series, Scott. I wonder why the cow is muzzled

It all depends on the little man you see in the corner.  You can ask for a nice gentle ride, or take your chances.  There's a third option -- pay a double fee and go for the $100 challenge, you have to stay on for 10 seconds to win it.  That's when the muzzle comes off.

There are more at https://www.flickr.com/gp/133969392@N05/Vd566j (not edited down yet, and also not complete)
