Now that I have an M11, should I sell my M10-R?

I'm located in Doylestown, PA, USA, if you are interested in buy a pristine M10-R, in the box with all accessories, extra batteries and Leica half case.

I ussualy don't sell Leica equipement, but anyway, In the past I sold Leica X, and when APO 35 on order came to my dealer, Q2 will be sold as well. But Ms!.. I don't sell them! When I got my M10R BP, at first I only shot with it, beenig aware time will past I will use M240 more frequently. And it's come true! Nowdays I use one or another, M10R BP with Summilux 50 and M240 with Summilux 28, beeing perfectly satisfide with both. 35 APO will be used with both, I presume. So, if you use just one lens, you should sell M10R or consider it as back up. But if you have more lenses, use M10R as "equal" to M11.

I’m really surprised that you have only one camera! Keep the M10 and buy a new M11 great to shoot with two cameras so that you do not gave to interchange so often.

Is this a discussion or your substitute for a classified ad?  Surely you don’t need others’ advice.

The main advantages for me of the M11 compared to the M10-R are the lack of base plate allowing quicker and safer changing of the battery and the significantly longer lasting battery performance.  Having in the past the original Q, SL and SL2 spoiled me in quick battery changes without having to deal with baseplate removal.  I don't need the extra megapixels nor do I use the respective Visoflexes much.  I also enjoy the touchscreen menu more on the M11 but these last several issues are minor positive points for me.  My color digital Ms have always been silver so I didn't save any weight with the new M11.

I just dropped off my M10-R which is also mint with boxes at my normal consigner and don't miss it at all.  It had stayed at home unused since I received my M11.  Once the M11M comes, my M10M will also go to the consigner.  For back up, I have my originally acquired silver M9P and M9M which both have their sensors replaced with the non-corrosive type.

So far, have not gotten rid of a Leica M lens.  Digital M cameras come and go but M lenses are harder to reacquire.

I dropped the baseplate from my M10 last week. It made a “ kling” noise. First time since 23 years I believe. Maybe you’re right about your motivation. Now I am getting older I drop things more often…

Sell it and don't look back. I did the same and don't miss the M10-R at all.

Sold my m10r when m11 arrived, no regrets.

“Sold my m10r when m11 arrived, no regrets.” In a few years it will be ‘Sold my M11 when M12 arrived, no regrets.’ Life goes on, cheers.

I had an M240P and had to sell it to help fund an M10-R.  If I could afford it I'd kept the M240P.  But I had to dig for change in my chairs and couches to close the gap.  🙂

I'm still collecting aluminum cans - I need only another nine tons of beer and pop cans and the M11 is mine!  😁

Takes me about five seconds to change a battery with a baseplate M. So maybe three seconds with an M11? I guess if I took a bath on my nine month old M10-R black paint and got an M11 instead, I could add a whole three or four minutes to the rest of my life by not having to 'deal' with a baseplate.

Now if only Leica could come up with a self loading and unloading dishwasher, I could add years....

Add back a few seconds each time that you need to remove the battery in the M11 to access the SD card.

Interesting conversations…. I love the ability to lock down the base plate, covering the battery compartment, but then I shoot in some crazy weather and like not worrying about the seal.  However, it isn’t a critical point.

What is great on the M11 compared to previous versions, including the M10R is a) the battery life and b) the color.  I had an SL-2 for awhile, but the dynamic range wasn’t great.  I traded for an SL-2S and the dynamic range and color on the BSI sensor was great.  We now have the same in the M.

Color and Dynamic range are more important to me than anything.  I prefer ISO 125 and ISO 400 speed film over ISO 3200 speed film because it has better dynamic range.  Same thing here.

I kept my M10M, but that is a different camera than the M10 R.

If you love it, keep it!  If not, sell it!

Just my thoughts.
