trequartista Posted July 9, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did they ever think about if releasing any special edition, that they also need to produce a battery for each of it? Like, the reporter would need a battery with a green cover etc. How will they manage this? And doesn't it mean that these batteries will be very unique and maybe fast not be produced anymore?
Advertisement Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 Hi trequartista, Take a look here Leica in the Battery-Trap. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ouroboros Posted July 9, 2022 Share #2 Posted July 9, 2022 The windscreen wipers on my 'limited edition' van are the same colour as the standard van. So are the tyres, for that matter. It has never occurred to me that I've been fooled by marketing until now.....
Herr Barnack Posted July 9, 2022 Share #3 Posted July 9, 2022 (edited) If Leica releases an M11 Reporter or Safari version at some point, they will simply make a run of batteries with the right color base to match the base of the camera. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem IMHO. Edited July 9, 2022 by Herr Barnack

The color of the batteries doesn't matter; the question is, can we get new batteries in 15 or more years? 1

That's what I mean. With such unique requirements to a battery, probably nobody can reproduce them ever. 16 minutes ago, Herr Barnack said: If Leica releases an M11 Reporter or Safari version at some point, they will simply make a run of batteries with the right color base to match the base of the camera. MrPaulK Posted July 9, 2022 Share #6 Posted July 9, 2022 I’d imagine someone could swap the internals with a new model with the wrong color

Black battery will look fine with Safari. We use black and silver lenses on Safari bodies. Q2 Reporter uses a black battery. Hah, well now that I think about it, don't they usually do silver as the contrasting color on the safari? I guess there is always the M11 Reporter that will go well with the black. Now that the bottom plate is not removable on the M11, the Kevlar will not fuzz-up at the bottom edge like it did with the M10-P Reporter.

Black looks good on Q2 reporter.

Yes, they do black with Reporter, but silver with Safari. I'd rather they did black with both.

There is no Q2 safari. All other Safari models have hidden battery. AFAIK, all SL2/Q2 batteries are black.
jakontil Posted July 10, 2022 Share #14 Posted July 10, 2022 black should be fine with the M11 reporter. not so much with the safari the Q2 reporter already gave a strong hints bout the colour of the battery in M11 reporter wkwkkwkwk
davidmknoble Posted July 10, 2022 Share #15 Posted July 10, 2022 Regardless of the color, these are the longest lasting M batteries on one charge I’ve ever used! Love the capacity.

I used the Q2 Reporter as an example of how Leica did not need to use the special edition color on the battery cover. I couldn't reference a previous M special edition because they all have the removable bottom plate and the battery is hidden.

Black doesn't look as good on the M10-P Safari because the body's metal accents are all silver 🙃 I'm sure they'll keep it that way –> Safari/silver -|- Reporter/black.
