I've noticed that Adorama is listing the 10Rs as "closeout" and at B&H the Silver Chrome model is out of stock with more coming. I thought the 10R would stay in production for awhile but it appears not. Too bad, I was thinking of getting a 10R down the road, I'm not keen on the M11 for a number of reasons. Maybe firmware updates will fix those issues for me or maybe I'll wait for the M11P or 12.

I bought mine M10R BP in Graz, Austria (Digital camera Graz - they have on-line service as well) 2 months ago. I cheque - they have another BP in stock, but not "classic" M 10R models. Although M 11 is considerable upgrade from M 10R, still, there is something special with this model. I don't sell my Leicas and  M 10R BP certainly stay with me till...

Think the “close out” on Adorama is a mistake. As stated B&H doesn’t mention anything and neither does the Leica Store USA site.  Adorama mentions closeout but its not offered at a “closeout” price!!!

Don’t know. That’s very debatable. Nothing that is new on the M11 make any difference in my photography. And it’s Aluminum which isn’t an upgrade for me. Neither is the ugly bottom with the exposed USB port or the sony sensor.

IMO the M10R is a much better Leica M. I don’t see what benefits I would get from shooting with an M11 instead of my 10R.

Whatever you say is true. Fully true. But still the M11, once you understand it, is a big development from the M10. But still my own photography did not fully change because of this. Why should it. My personality made no progress (🤢). I like still the same places to photograph. I still go a lot out with my wife (both with camera). The M11 is my great leisure camera. For assignements I need Canon R5. The progress with both of these cameras gives me plenty new options.

Of course one can be without all that technical progress. Do you still have your old Nokia phone and do you claim that you can take calls exactly the same as with the new iPhone? And you are right with that statement.

Maybe this explains why so little urgency is apparent, in releasing the firmware update, to enable those who have bought the Visoflex 2 to use it on an M10. First due March, then April now advised at TLS AGM by Jason Howard as "possibly May". Yawn!

In some sensor tests, I believe the M10-R slightly out-performed the M11. I will try and find the article. I was a bit surprised. The only real advantage for me would be the lighter weight and the better resolution of the Visoflex 2 EFV on the M11, as I quite often use non-coupled lenses like the excellent Zeiss 28-85 f3.3 Vario Sonnar with a Novoflex LEM-Cont adapter and the equally good 100mm/f2.8 APO-Macro-Elmarit-R. If I last that long, I will probably get an M12.

The Reid Review tests on the M11/M10R/M10M were an eye opener for me. I have the M10M and enjoy it very much. I would like a color M in the future. IDK, if the M10R is out of production I might go in a entirely different direction for color with my M lenses. A SL-2S comes to mind because of IBIS and also low noise @ high ISO like my Monochrom, it's liberating.

FWIW my Leica dealer told me the M10R was discontinued... but that obviously doesn't mean that you can't get a one new someplace.. (there was a department store here that had an M9 M-E model new until about 2018)

The M10 FW release might be delayed as they're throwing resources at the apparent m11 problems first rather than upgrading the working historical models

It's also entirely possibly that they'll be some sort of M10 based "M-E" budget model like we saw the with the M9 and 240 once it had gone end of life (sic)

Why are you all so surprised/worried/bothered with this?

with the arrival of the m11, the m10 plus whatever extension reached its end of lifecycle. It will be discontinued. If not now, then very soon.

great for those who want to buy one and save some money. Those on the edge for the 11 don’t care.

personally I am waiting for the m11m to come, cant wait for a bargain on the m10m 😎

Thanks OThomas. I went ahead and bought a mint silver M10R off of Fred Miranda Buy& Sell. It had some Leica USA warranty left and it's been good.

Good for you! The best! How are you enjoying it? I’m curious which lenses you have?

I have an economical group of lenses that perform well overall: 35/2.4 Summarit; 50/2 Summicron-M; 50/2 Voigt APO Lanthar; 50/1.5 Voigt Nokton II; 75/2.4 Summarit; & the 90/2.5 Summarit.

Interesting. I also have experience with these. My 50 now is the APO, but my first was the f1.5 II. I loved it on the M10-P, but sort of lost it with the 10R. Nice lens though.

I absolutely love the APO. What in your opinion is the main difference between the Apo and the f2 Summicron? Any samples that you can show?

The Lanthar is a razor, the 50 Summicron is OK but lower contrast (which I bought it for) and has focus shift which peaks at f/4 so I avoid that f stop.
